I always have the leftover fresh herb problem.

I have heard of storing them in a glass full of water. But I never know what to do with the kinds without long stems.

This tip kind of confuses me. One moment they say be sure they are dry and the next they say keep them hydrated. I guess it depends on the herb. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/confused.gif

My understanding was for small batches, the bag worked, and for large amounts, to use the glass and water. I used the water thing in the past, but never changed the water, I only kept adding to it. I now know what my problem is. I do the same for fresh flowers. I guess I am just lazy.

Question of the Week

I always end up with leftover fresh herbs. What is the best way to store them?

This Week's Answer

Make sure the herbs are completely dry, and store in a sealed plastic bag. This will keep in the refrigerator's vegetable crisper for about a week. To store large bunches of herbs, stand them up in a glass filled with water. Loosely cover the top of the bunch with a plastic bag, using a rubberband to secure it. Be sure to change the water every other day.
