Hey Everyone,

Need some help. DH and I made salmon the other night in a non-stick pan. I washed it well and let it dry overnite. This morning I was making eggs and the unmistakable aroma of salmon filled up the kitchen! I couldn't eat the eggs because they had a hint of the salmon! Why did this happen and how can I get rid of the smell?

Thanks!

Don't know why it happened unless the coating is porous. Anyway, you can try boiling a mixture of baking soda and water. Don't have a formula but b. soda is good for absorbing odors. Or maybe cooking some potatoes in the pan, simmer in water?

This happened to me, too. I ended up designating that pan as the "fish pan." That way only the fish I cooked in it would taste fishy! I broke down and bought a new pan to be used for less stinky stuff.

You learn something new every day. I didn't think that could happen, but I would try the baking soda thing. Or even putting in a mixture of water and vinegar and boiling it out. Let us know if you get the smell out.

I have heard of rubbing salt and/or fresh lemon on cutting boards to take away the smell. Perhaps this would work for your pan.

Thanks everyone! I used the baking soda and water idea and it seemed to work. We had pancakes for breakfast and they didn't smell like salmon.

I appreciate your help!
