I've recently been going to trader joes and have found all the pasta sauce choices to be overwhelming...there's canned and jarred...so many choices. And favorites??

l&l: My daughter favors the vegetarian bolognese (small chunks of soy protein instead of meat.) I haven't tasted it plain before, but used it in lasagna where it tasted good and provided a nice texture.

I bought one that was a marinara with cheese in it (or something like that) and I ended up throwing out the whole thing! I know they takes things back there, but I didn't want to bother.

I've tried a couple I didn't like too. There is one that was recommended by another shopper in the store...Eggplant Arrabiata..I thought it was terrible. It had soy sauce and cilantro in it, so I don't know what I should have expected.

The plain old, regular TJ's Marinara is AWESOME!!!!! And very low in fat. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Is this marinara in a jar or can?

If you are into puttanesca-type sauces, their [wait...running downstairs to get can.....] "Burgundy Wine Marinara with Olives and Capers" is very decent for a canned/jarred sauce. I think it is the best one I have tried. I also like the vegeterian bolognese that junietoo mentioned (even DH likes it, and that says a lot.)
I like to add a little sauted onion and garlic to any jarred sauce (although I think making it from scratch from canned tomatoes, etc. can be just as easy and much better tasting - see the Cooks Illustrated article [a recent thread discussed it]).

I happen to really like the roasted red pepper marinara in the glass jar. I never buy jarred sauce but I like adding this one to stir fried vegis or pasta.
