What is your NYE tradition? Do you go out, stay home, what kind of food do you eat, etc? My DH and I have grown tired of fighting crowds and want to start a fun NYE tradition at home. Just looking for ideas.

For about six years now, we've made it a tradition to stay home on NYE. We invite one of our good friends over and spend the day cooking and nibbling. We drink wine, chat, and make all sorts of puttery things. We've made whole meals, but have found that making appetizers is really what we prefer. We eat bits and pieces as we go, and then set everything that's left out on the table to be eaten at our leisure.
When we get tired of cooking (or are too full of food), we retire with Trivial Pursuit for the rest of the evening (we now have 3 versions of the game, so we can play for hours and hours). We're often up way past midnight sipping wine and having a grande old time. Sometimes we even miss the strike of midnight, since we're having so much fun.
As an added bonus, whomever we have over generally spends the night at our house and we go out for breakfast the next morning. Some years, we even come back home and continue the festivities with more Trivial Pursuit and noshing.
I'm sorry to say that this year the tradition will be broken, since we have a wedding to attend on January 1st. But we're tentatively planning our "foodfest" for the 28th of December this year -- just because we'd all miss it if we didn't do SOMETHING.
