I live in Charlotte, North Carolina. I'm a big fan of Cooking Light magazine--almost every recipe I make comes from the magazine. I really enjoyed the recent issue on Cooking Light Supper Clubs. I would love to join one or start one in the Charlotte area. Anyone out there got any ideas?
I'd love to pull together a supper club - I'm new to Charlotte area, also, by way of Boston. It would be great to make new friends, and try out some CL's recipes! Wouldn't having a soup "bar" be a fun idea for a dinner? There are several recipes that look yummy in this month's issue... Even if we start small in the new year, who knows how many we may end up with at year's end. What do you think?!

I used to live in Boston--small world. Thanks for answering! I'm encouraged. A soup bar sounds great--an easy way to start. So far, yours is the only reply I've gotten. I'm currently out of town for Christmas, so when I get back to Charlotte, I'll be ready to start organizing a little bit. Hopefully, I'll also get some more replies!
Yay! Look forward to touching base soon!
(Too funny about the Boston link...)

Would love to be a part of a supper club. My husband and I are in the final stages of remodeling our home and I'll have a brand new kitchen to cook in! Only problem is....I'm a terrible cook so I need some help! Hopefully this will come together!

I moved to Charlotte a few years ago from the DC area, and joining a supper club was one of the first things I did. That supper club is still going strong 4 years later and I love it! I recently joined another supper club this summer, completely different but still very fun. I love to cook and can relate to wanting to make friends in a new area, so I'm happy to participate and help in any way I can. Charlotte is a great city, and hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.

I'm fairly new to Charlotte, and just recently discussed joining or starting a supper club here with my sister in Concord. I've been using Cooking Light recipes mixed in my everyday cooking for about 10 years now, and have begun introducing it to my new co-workers. I would love to join you and your group.
Happy New Year!
I'm excited to see how many of us are interested in starting a (or is it starting another?!) supper club in Charlotte! I noticed in reading one of the other threads that a group just starting out first met at a local Starbucks to talk about menu and scheduling, and thought that sounded like a great idea. (I love email and all, but nothing takes place of a live conversation, you know?) That michellemseymour is an experienced supper clubber and willing to give advice is a great bonus.
What do you all think about having a get-to-know-you/planning meeting? And what types of days/times would work to do so?
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Meeting somewhere local is a great idea, that will give everyone a chance to meet face-to-face and discuss how to structure the club. There are so many different ways to do a supper club, it all just depends on what the group wants to get out of it. Some are more "cooking"-based clubs, and others are more "entertaining/socializing" clubs. Weekend afternoons are generally better for me to meet, but I can be flexible with the rest of the group. It might be easier for 1 person to gather email addresses and coordinate a time/place for our first meeting.

I'd be happy to gather emails and attempt to organize a first meeting. In your emails give the best times ( give best and 2nd best) to meet and your location in charlotte. We'll try to centralize the meeting as best as we can.
my email address: elizrn12@carolina.rr.com
Looking forward to starting this club!

I'm new to this site and the most recent post seems to be almost a year old now. My partner Michael and I live just outside the Durham, NC area and are interested in either starting or joining a cooking/supper club. Gay would be nice, however, beggers can't be choosers. I just love to cook!!! If there is anything going on club-wise, please let me know. thanks.

I am very interesting in joining a Supper Club and meeting new people. I totally enjoy cooking and sharing this passion with others. I look forward to hearing from you and exploring the potential of increasing the supper club by 1. I was a part of a supper club about 8 years ago and it was a great time. Many of those members have moved away - but what away to make new friends and expand your recipe file - all at the same time.
