I had a Joyce Chen and had problems with peeling. If there is one without the nonstick surface, I'd go for that one. I now have a Calphalon and it's a 12-inch. I've only used it once, so I can't really comment on how it performs, etc. Good luck!

I don't know if this helps, but I have a Joyce Chen non-stick wok pan with a lid that I use at least twice a week. I haven't any problems with the non-stick surface, and I have to say that I love it!

I need to buy a friend a stir fry pan as this is what she wants. However, Calphalon only makes a 10" that I have seen, and she wants something larger. Is anyone familiar with "Joyce Chen" pans? I know she has food products out there as well, but want to know how hers compare. Any input is appreciated. My friend does not want an actual wok.

I've had great luck with my regular carbon-steel wok. It's not non-stick, but the heat conduction is perfect for stir-frying since the pan gets hot quickly and evenly (not true with non-stick surfaces).
The pan does not require much special care -- just a thin coating of oil after every washing.

I've owned a Circulon 14" wok for a few years and I love it! A bamboo steamer fits inside perfectly. It has a stainless lid and cleans up in a flash.

I have been using a 6 1/2 qt electric wok with silverstone non stick finish Kenmore Choice (Sears)& it has been great. I also have a smaller wok from pots and pand Calphalon and a bigger wok from Calphalon (nonstick) but mostly I use my Sears one. My mom has a Maxim and its a nice one too and has lasted a long time.

My sister has a Joyce Chen non-stick stir fry pan and she swears by it. She uses it a lot--not just for stir fry (and she is a big cook so for her using it a lot is probably three times a week at least). She actually bought me one for a wedding present but someone had already given me a stir fry pan. Now I kinda wish I hadn't exchanged it because the stir fry pan I have has to be seasoned and specially cleaned which makes it kind of a pain.

Thanks for your help. I picked up the Joyce Chen - it came with a rack, a lid and a wooden stir spoon. It comes with a warranty, so hopefully she will not have to use it. Thanks again.
