I wish I could say that I was among those going, but...

I know that several BB members were headed to Paris this year and I just wanted to let you know that I just received my May Bon Appétit and the entire issue is dedicated to Paris. You might want to check it out! And it has some divine Parisian recipes as well.

Just got Paris Bon Appetit (May 2001)...everything looks great. The passion fruit rum punch looks like a great idea to try this Easter http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
Passion Fruit & rum
6 servings
2 c light rum
1 12 ounce can frozen passion fruit flavored cocktail concentrate, thawed
1 vanilla bean split lenthwise
ice cubes
Place rum & concentrate in blender. Scrape seeds from vanilla bean. Blend just until seeds are evenly distributed. Fill 6 glasses with ice & pour punch over...

Thanks for the tip. I guess Bon Appetit is following in the footsteps of Gourment, which ran an Paris issue last month. And, of course, CL had a Paris feature in the April issue. I'm leaving in about 6 weeks -- hopefully will find some great restaurants to share with this board.

Beth H, if you love ice cream, you must stop by the Berthillion ice cream shop on Ile de St. Louis (they showed a picture of it in Cooking Light, I believe). It's not far from the Notre Dame Cathedral. You'll find many cafes that serve Berthillion ice cream, but it's fun to go right to the shop to get the best variety of flavors. I tried the white chocolate ice cream, the banana ice cream, and black raspberry sorbet, and my husband had the regular chocolate. So yummy! They had exotic flavors like kumquat and pear sorbet.

There's also a cute little shop a few blocks up from Berthillion called Olives and Company. They have a bazillion different kinds of olive olive, and gorgeous salad bowls and serving tongs made from olive wood. I bought a cute ceramic decanter there, but I'm still kicking myself for not buying the salad tongs!
