Dh and I saw this on Saturday, it is quite good, we almost saw something else since neither one of us likes Leonardo Decaprio, but he pulled it off. I just remember Howard Hughes as and old a crazy billionaire recluse. He was brilliant almost genious when it came to airplane design. It also alluded that he was molested by his mother and that could have caused his obessive/crazy compulsions.

It was 3 hours long, but went by fast, they could have cut down one of his breakdowns that seemed like it lasted for half and hour though.

Glad to hear you liked it. DH wants to go see it and I'm not much of a Leonardo fan either so I had been hesitating.

I saw it with a group of friends yesterday. All four of us liked it, thought it was long (could have cut some of the movie making scenes), but I would definetly recommend it.

I saw this Saturday night too. I didn't have strong feelings either way on Leonardo going into this movie, but I was very impressed by his performance. I, too, went into this not knowing much more about Hughes than "eccentric billionaire," and I knew he had ties to the aviation industry and Hollywood. I was fascinated - what a troubled, brilliant man. I did some reading when I got home, and it sounds like his life after the late 40's (which is as far as the picture takes us) was just as intriguing, and even more troubled.

Laurielee, DH and I discussed the molestation as well. It seemed to be subtly implied at first, but then you couldn't help but think that it definitely occurred and probably explained a lot of his issues.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the movie - I love this period of history, so it was fun to see the clothing and lifestyle (at least of the rich Hollywood set) during these decades.

I saw this today, and I thought it was excellent. Yes, a little long, but Leonardo really nails this part. I would expect to see an Oscar nomination for him...

We went and saw this movie today and I agree that it was excellent. I may have to change my opinion of Leonardo because he really did an outstanding job with this role. I agree that there is probably a Oscar nomination coming his way...

I think Leonardo did a good job in this movie too. The movie was somewhat disturbing because of his mental illness, but a very interesting story. I was especially interested in the movie since my Dad, who died last February, worked for Hughes Aircraft Company for 35 years. He didn't know Howard, though. -sarah
