Okay, I realize that in the great scheme of life, my year has not been that bad, but I want 2004 over so I can have a better 2005.

* Social life - I attempted 3 different relationships this year, none of them panned out

* My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer (treatments are all done and we are hoping for a clean bill of health in 2005)

* My son had a friend that was killed in a car accident and the driver is a close friend. The sentencing will be mid January 2005 for the driver

* I was laid off from work (last day 1/21/05)

* A rock hit my windshield on Thursday and cracked it (they will repair it tomorrow)

* I hit a wet spot on the road this morning, lost control of the car and hit a guard rail. Fortunately, there is very little damage (fender, headlight) and I'm fine

* I gained 15 pounds (10 in the last month...no self control and too many sweets)

So, is this crappy year over yet????

Tyra

Nothing to add, but just to say I'm sorry 2004 wasn't so good for you. The bright side is that it can't get worse. Hoping 2005 is the best year of your life!

Tyra, sorry you had such a rough year! Glad you're OK after your accident today.

I can relate to wanting 2004 over. It was really a bittersweet year for us. One of the worst and one of the best. We went through so much worry and agony leading up to Caitlyn's surgery and then her complications. But, it's over now and you'd never know she went through any of it. She's perfectly healthy and we are so blessed. DH and I also went through some very rough times, but things are better.

I'm looking forward to a nice, calm 2005!

((((Tyra)))) I am so sorry that 2004 has been so crappity for you. :( I hope 2005 is much much better!

My worst year, by far, was 2002. It would take a LOT to top that. This year certainly had some huge stresses for me but was a good year overall. Moving to NYC has made the last few months really fun, even though it also made them financially stressful.

I hear you! Can't wait for 2004 to be over. There is no way 2005 can be as bad - although at the end of 2003, I said that about 2004.

Here's to good things in '05 for everyone!

That's how I felt. I know that parts of 2005 will only get harder, but I hope that overall it will be better.

I won't even begin to list what went wrong in 2004, but suffice it to say that I will be so glad to start writing a new year on checks.

2004 was bittersweet for us in many ways, and I am looking forward to 2005. Weird how January 1st is just the next day on the calendar, but you sometimes wake up with an entirely new mindset. And 365 new days to try new recipes. :)

Glad your fender bender wasn't too bad and you are OK, Tyra! (See! There's something that went right!)

Tyra, I'm glad you're OK from your accident. I had a hydroplaning accident once (is that what you meant with the wet roads?) and it was more scary than usual because the car sliding just came out of nowhere. A rainy day in July just doesn't come with the same caution as an ice storm in January.

We are also looking forward to a better 2005 and getting all the issues from the construction finally over with. We are looking for a refund from the MA Contractors Fund or whatever it's called and a successful win on the frivolous lawsuit the excavator has brought against us since Mike the general contractor never paid him.

That was exactly what caused it. On top of it, I was on a curvy two lane canyon road so I was trying not to hit oncoming traffic or go off the road. Truthfully, I really only need to fix the light, but I think I'll bite the bullet and have the bumper repainted so I'm not reminded of it every day. Just wish this didn't happen a month before I get laid off (I could think of other things to spend my $500 deductible on)

Tyra--

Like everyone else, I am so glad that the injuries were limited to your car in your accident. Such incidents are scary as well as expensive.

Hard years are something else, huh? All I can say is that (at least in my case), after a while it's over and my life returns to a more even keel.

I know that you won't be able to relax until you have a new job, but I'm holding the thought that 2005 will be enjoyable and productive for you.

For all you who had hard times in 2004 I hope the year ahead is full of nothing but good things.
Tyra- you have had way more than is fair! Take care.(((( Tyra)))))

I find every year has its up and downs- the worst year of my life was 5 years ago-after that nothing can seem as bad. And of course we can all look around the globe and see that others have far bigger problems than we can even imagine (not that that diminishes our own stuggles but perhaps helps to keep things in perspective).:)
Bring on 2005!:)

Your accident sounds scary, but I'm glad you're safe.:(

I've got a feeling wonderful things are coming your way in 2005! :D

Tyra, the first time I tried to reply to this thread, something wasn't working. I forgot to mention your accident when I came back..glad you were able to avoid injury to both yourself and others. That canyon part scares me. Seems all the folks I know who get laid off move on to better things, and it sounded like you could be happier, so I'm hoping good things are on there way for you.

I just had my car towed away today. I went to move it so DH could put in a new lightbulb outside and it wouldn't start. They won't even look at it until tomorrow. At least we're covered with AAA and the new car warranty and DH is off from work this week, so we can cover more easily than when everyone's going in different directions in the morning and it didn't happen while we were out in the sleet on Christmas Eve . So, is this the end of 2004 (car dies)? or the beginning of things to come (no cash out of pocket, happened at home when no one had to go anywhere and we should get it back before the daily scramble resumes)? Maybe both. ;)
