Ok, I have made JK's Chocolate Chip cookies twice with the same result. Mine are flat and crispy and I think there is too much butter or not enough flour:

1 Tbsp + 1 tsp well beaten egg
3 Tbsp + 1 tsp butter
1/4 c brown sugar
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 c + 2 Tbsp flour
1/8 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 c chocolate chip

Makes 6 cookies (I get 8 using my scoop)

Do you think it should be 1/3 + 2 Tbsp flour, or should I cut the butter down? I am now obsessed b/c the recipe isn't turning out how I like them- or maybe that is the way they are supposed to turn out???

I know the answer!!!!

I thought there was too much butter too - they came out flat and greasy. I made three batches modifying each time and found that there is actually too much sugar.

Cut the brown sugar in half (to 2 T). That does the trick, but I also like to cut the butter by two teaspoons (to 2 T and 2 t) and up the egg to 2 T. That gives a really nice texture. As long I'm giving my opinion - I think there is a little too much vanilla too.

Sorry I got so excited - but this was the first recipe I made from the book and it made me nuts. Hope this helps.
