OK--I broke down and made one of the green tea recipes, the Pan-Fried Udon Noodles with Tofu I enjoyed it, but only after a few changes. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

I couldn't find Daikon Radish or Jicama at my grocery and couldn't bear the idea of julienning lots of little regular radishes so...I subbed an entire package of the broccoli slaw for the daikon radish and the carrots. This was at least double if not triple the amount of veggies called for but it worked well.

I found the whole dish to be bland except for the slight minty flavor from the green tea, might just have been the tea bags I used or because I added more veggies?? Anyway--I added another tablespoon of teriyaki sauce and rice vinegar and about 1/4 cup soy sauce and that spiced it up a little bit. Even with those additions, this was not a dish with strong flavors--it is still quite mellow. I'm willing to try it again because of the healthy ingredients involved...tofu, lots of veggies, green tea but next time I'll use a more flavorful sauce but will definitely continue using the bag of slaw--I thought that was a great shortcut!

Thanks for posting this review! I've been wondering if people had been trying the green tea recipes. I don't care for drinking tea and am hoping this might be a way to get the benefits of green tea.

I made this tonight & we enjoyed it.

I DID use daikon radish which I found to be a little more spicy than regular red radishes, and that was the dominant flavor. We never could pinpoint any tea flavor, though!

I agree w/Kim - I HATE drinking tea, so I was a little skeptical of the tea recipes. However, I remember a wonderful tea sorbet we had as part of dinner last New Year's Eve & hoped to at least somewhat duplicate that flavor. But, not with this dish; I guess the sorbet wasn't from green tea & we can't remember the exact tea.
