What is a Truffle?

It is a fungus - but then so are mushrooms, so I guess, yes it is a mushroom. A very expensive one. They use pigs and sometimes dogs to sniff them out in the woods.

Unless, of course you're talking about a chocolate truffle which is not a mushroom and is sometimes sniffed out by me in a chocoholic fit. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif
