It actually had a small piece of tape over it and just now I had to stick my thumb nail in the top of it to slide it down.
Kim, we have a couple of those now. I gave one to my husband for Christmas one year as a "toy", and we found out how to refill it the hard way -- we were turning it every which way trying to figure out how to open it and it dropped on the floor. The door popped open and we found it. :0 Right under the one of the handles like Sneezles said.

Here is an old thread where the same question was asked.

I'm hoping someone can help me - I'm desperate! A little while ago I bought one of those Pepper Ball mills (just need one hand to squeeze the handles and grind the pepper) - it came filled with peppercorns which I've now used up. I can't figure out how to refill it and have thrown the box away. Anyone know??

I have one that sort looks like a rabbit, is that the one you're referring to? If so ther is a little door under one of the handles that slides downwards. Mine is a Chef'n brand. Hope this helps.

That sounds exactly the same as mine - I'll take a look tonight. Do you have to pry it or does it come open fairly easily. Both my husband and I looked over the thing and nothing easily opened up. I was starting to fear it was "disposable."

Thank you everyone - I was successful last night. Well actually it was DH - I still couldn't do it http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/redface.gif

It does require a good fingernail (not in danger of breaking or messing up a manicure), a knife blade or something similar.
