I received a phone call for the man I purchased my house from nearly 5 years ago (6/2000).
The man calling (I assume he was a lawyer or working for a lawyer) said a driver's license search brought up this address and then was cross referenced with a telephone listing to bring up my name and number, so he assumed we both lived here (one moment--cough, gag, gag. This man was a total a-hole-->not exactly Mr. Congeniality). This man also told me that the last driver's license renewal for this man showed 2003.
This sounds like the man is still using my address...when we closed on the house, I recall him saying he was moving to FL.

Anyhow, this just bugs me. I don't think it's anything I really need to be worried about, unless I start getting phone calls for him. I haven't received mail for him in sometime. This just bugs me because I don't want him using MY address!

Think the guy calling was with a collection agency? That's the first thing that comes to my mind. Might also explain why the guy you bought the house from might not have updated his address. :(

Oh, I forgot to mention--the person he was looking for was a witness to a car wreck 6 months ago. He was a passenger in a cab here in Lewisville (not a place where you see a lot of cabs) that was involved in a wreck with a motorcycle.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. We periodically received calls looking for the previous owner of a house we owned. I really do think it was collection agencies.

You know, they're not supposed to identify themselves as a collection agency to anyone other than the person they are trying to reach, so generally they make up some sort of story to get you to tell the person to call back (just in case you really do know the person they are trying to reach). . .

Actually I would worry about it. My sister ran into a problem when she was living in a condo where she got a call from the police asking for info about some man who said they lived with her. She NEVER even heard of the guy. He had her name, address and number and apparently opened credit cards in his name, but using her address and phone number. I dont' remember all the details, but was amazed at it all. This was a few years ago, and I know it was resolved, but I wouldn't ignore it. Not sure who you should call - maybe the police - they could check with DMV to see about his license/address.
