Denver got about 8 inches of heavy wet snow last night and it's still blowing hard.I already had my kids bundled up and had driven halfway to school before I thought to call --school's closed! When we got home we had no phone--eeek! No BB! Power has been off and on all am, with branches down everywhere. As I recall, when that last big storm hit the NE, we were at 65. I guess it's payback time!

May I offer my condolences???? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif Snow in April, it just ain't right. And I was feeling glum because of all the fog, clouds and drizzle! Maybe we should turn it into a good thing by baking up some good bread! Mmm...olive bread....

You have my sympathies! We just finally stopped getting snow here in Montreal a few days ago. I think spring might finally be here (knock on wood)...

This is why you all should move to Florida - for months, it's been 80 degrees, sunny, blue skies, and breezy! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/tongue.gif

I liver in LA and it's cold and cloudy, and in the 60's (WAH). Normally I wouldn't complain, being from San Francisco, but I'm getting married in 2.5 weeks and thought it would be warm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still lots of snow here in Lake Tahoe, CA. In fact it is snowing right now. I guess that's what we get for living in the mountains!

KValley - You can break out shorts in WA in April?? Not us! Maybe it's the Texans in us still, but we've got the heater running in our house, at least part-time, through June. Every year.

ewatkins, I feel for you! We are actually having nice weather in Western NY but that doesn't mean we're out of the woods yet. I remember snow on Mother's Day once. And don't let those Southerners get you down. Here, the crocuses are blooming, the forsythia and daffodils are getting close, the geese are flying north in their awesome formations ... there's nothing more beautiful, in my opinion. Except, perhaps the glorious colors in the fall... I wouldn't miss the change of seasons for anything. And you've got those amazing mountains. So hang in there in the snow and know that a beautiful spring is just around the corner!

Sympathies to all those with snow on the ground.

mb, I'm with you! I went out to check my mail at lunchtime in the 80-degree Florida weather and thought to myself, "yes, just another day in paradise." Of course the tables will turn in the summer when the temperature (and humidity) is near or over 100.

Hope everyone has wonderful weather soon!

Jennie L - don't let my snow story scare you. It's now 3pm and the roads are fine, sun is out, and it will be 65 in the next day or two. The weather here is glorious, but changeable!

I feel for you, I am so sick of snow. We were dodging tornadoes all day today here in Nebraska. My parents are comming to visit tomorrow from Wyoming and might have to postpone their trip one day due to the snowy weather in the Nebraska panhandle

Definitely! What else goes better with wool socks, Ecuadorean wool sweater and Birkenstocks but khaki shorts? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Seriously though, it's been way colder than normal this Spring. I'm always too warm-I do think your Texan blood has something to do with it. PLus, it's so dry here, the cold doesn't seep into your bones in quite the same way as damper climes just to the west.

Then you would probably shudder to hear that my DH uses an electric blanket even in the summer. He says unless it's 90 degrees with 90% humidity, it's too cold. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif

Julia, I hope that the weather warms up for your wedding. This weather in "sunny" Socal is a joke, a bad one at that. Of course, we should be grateful that we aren't snowed in.

I hate to admit it but I turned on my air conditioner a couple of days ago. I didn't expect to have to do that all ready but we have bypassed spring completely here in SC!!!! I hate to think about my power bill!!!!!

Same in SC. We went directly from late winter to early summer weather -- no spring!

Connecticut has been lovely this week. We were almost in the 80s on Monday and yesterday was pretty nice with temps about 70º Now we're paying for our two days of relatively nice weather. It's in the 50s, getting very cloudy and it's supposed to get colder and rain until Saturday. We did have one lonely crocus pop up Monday and the lawn is full of Robins. I was hoping we'd at least have normal temperatures for this time of year by now. It's been a rough winter.

ewatkins,

I'm with you... Down here in Colorado Springs we got some pretty heavy snow and wind - the snow seems to be slowing down but the wind is still blowing like crazy. The weather here is nuts. Not to mention the kids are already driving me up the wall with their day off.... Oh well...

I think we've gone straight from our 2 days of spring to summer. It's in the 80's here (Arkansas) and I saw the first snake Saturday at the barn. You would know it just had to be a copperhead. Don't get me wrong, I love summer but I just can't tolerate those snakes.

ewatkins,

don't you worry! When it's 85 degrees and 99 percent humidity in the southeast and midwest in August, you'll be enjoying your 80 degree, dry, brilliant blue sky Denver summer!

It's unusually cold here in central Washington state. The entire state is officially in drought status, so I am grateful for this rain, but it snowed last night in the surrounding hills and I am still wrapped in a wool sweater. April usually means break out the shorts time, but not this year. I removed the down comforter last night as a matter of principle, but we shivered!!

An hour outside of Philly, we have rain. At least it's green out there though. We're heading to Toronto tomorrow, and last I heard, no snow, but that can change rather quickly.

We got at least 10 inches here in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It's gorgeous, but a little sunshine would sure help. Fortunately, I can stay in all day. We're not having any power outages here.

I've been seriously thinking about leaving Southern Califoria for Denver, but I don't know if I can handle snow in April!
