View Full Version : Nielsen-Massey Cookie Problems

I made these yesterday and thought they were great...but too buttery tasting to be a chocolate chip cookie. I just like a more pronounced flavor of chocolate chips, and they seemed to not be as much. The texture was great, I thought they looked nice, and the crumb was perfect too! I really liked these cookies, and thought that I would try to reduce the butter for next time...maybe even add some shortening for replacement.

However, when I did a search for the recipe to import into Mastercook, I found some differences in the recipes as posted on the board and on the Nielsen-Massey website. There was also one thread where a few people commented that they thought the recipe was too buttery and one said greasy. So I'm thinking that perhaps that Val's might work better for me. I don't see how Molli's with only 1 C of butter would produce as soft of a cookie, and the one I made (with 1 1/2 Cups butter) was just too much!

http://www.nielsenmassey.com/recipe23.htm from the website saying 1 C. butter

Soooo...I'm saying all of this to ask. Which N-M cookie recipe do you make?! Oh the power of the search feature and being too lazy to import a recipe into MC yourself. LOL!

the recipe I posted on that thread has 1 1/2 cups of butter, just like the recipe on the website.

I make the one off the site :).

I'm sure there was just a typo somewhere along the way. Happens.

Hey Val, sorry about that! I could have sworn that your post in that thread said 1 1/4 cups. :o

Also, I know that typos happen! I'm sure I've made a few myself. This board is one of the few that is really great in editing or correcting a recipe once someone realizes their mistake. I was thinking more along the lines of there being different versions of the recipe such as with the Neiman Marcus cookie.
