Me again, in search of the wisdom of the experienced bakers.

I am planning on making a cheesecake for Easter. My mom is a purist, and prefers plain cheesecakes. She also is not that big on reduced fat stuff, and especially thinks that one should splurge on the holidays.

With that in mind, do you guys recommend the sour cream cheesecake, NY cheesecake, or any others (there is one in the recipe finder called the Perfect Cheesecake). It should taste as full fat and as "pure" as can be.

Thanks for your help!

Gratefully,
Catharine

Please... anyone out there with an opinion? I need to go to the supermarket this afternoon. Thank you!

I made the sour cream cheesecake last month and my husband and I loved it. That was our second time trying it. I even froze some and we had it last week and it still tasted great.

I haven't made these, but personally I don't like sour cream cheesecakes -- they are very different from what I consider to be the classic NY cheesecake. The sour cream ones are a little too gooey -- I like mine on the drier side, if that makes any sense!.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the input. NY cheesecake this time, sour cream next time (when Mom isn't coming over).
