Cream cheese spread Vs. Cream cheese, subbing..

I want to make a grilled cheese sandwich that is asking for cream cheese can I use the cream cheese spread instead or is this not a good idea? Is there a big difference between the two that it will affect the recipe/sandwich I am making?

Yes, I would make the sub.

I think that's OK for a sandwich. The spreads are softer of course so the texture won't be the same. I woudn't make the sub for any and all recipes, but for this it should be OK.

To the both of you, Thank You. Now to get around to trying and making it and see if I like it and if I do use some pepper jack (one I have never tried before) in it possibly. I'm not a big cheese fan, in fact, I rather loathe it but if it is toasted cheese or at least baked or cooked I will eat it.
