From Gundlach-Bundschu Winery - I just love this quote:
"If you drink wine, you sleep.
When you sleep, you don't sin.
If you don't sin, you go to heaven.
So, drink wine, and go to heaven."

That's a modified old Irish saying...they just aren't specific about the "drink"!

"There are two reasons for drinking wine...when you are thirsty, to cure it; the other, when you are not thirsty, to prevent it... prevention is better than cure."

Wine makes daily living easier, less hurried, with fewer tensions and more tolerance. - Benjamin Franklin
"Couldn't understand a single word he said but I helped him drink his wine, and he always had some mighty fine wine... " -- Three Dog Night, Joy to the World
I have an apron I found at Afton Mountain Vineyards in Virginia- the picture is of a wine bottle sitting on a stage, beneath a spotlight. The caption reads "Life is a Cabernet" http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Some of my favorite quotes about wine:
I could get used to this:
"In Europe we thought of wine as something as healthy and normal as food and also a great giver of happiness and well being and delight. Drinking wine was not a snobbism nor a sign of sophistication nor a cult; it was as natural as eating and to me as necessary."
- Ernest Hemingway," A Moveable Feast'
"A hard drinker, being at table, was offered grapes at dessert. 'Thank you,' said he, pushing the dish away from him, 'but I am not in the habit of taking my wine in pills.'"
- "The Physiology of Taste" by Anthelme Brillat-Savarin
"I drank at every vine.
The last was like the first.
I came upon no wine
So wonderful as thirst."
-Edna St. Vincent Millay
This one has made the rounds a few times, but it always makes me laugh. My apologies to the men on the BB.
Men are like fine wine. They all start out like grapes, and it's our job to stomp on them and keep them in the dark until they start to mature into something you'd like to have dinner with.

On our recent trip to Australia, I bought a t-shirt in one of the wineries that says:
"Sophisticated, seductive, complex and full-bodied...(and the wine's not bad either)"

One that I saw at a winery in Missouri:
"I always cook with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food!"
