Is it possible to get a pot roast cooked on the stove in a dutch oven as tender as one cooked in the crock pot?

It has never worked for me, but I am satisfied with my crockpot! Less work and doesn't have to be checked, while I do other things. If anyone has any recipes that work, I would love to try them!

I almost always cook pot roast on top of the stove and it is always tender. Maybe it depends on the kind of roast. I usually use a chuck roast. This is what I do, although it is never the same twice. Brown it good, then spread some horseradish on top and almost cover with water. Add any seasonings you like. Cover and simmer 2-3 hours. Add veggies of your choice and simmer another 20-30 minutes till tender.
This seems to work for me.

I sear my potroast on the stove with onion and celery. Add seasoning and a cup of wine cover it and place it in the oven at 325° for about 1 hour per lb. The last hour I add those small carrots you buy in the bag, and after 1/2 hour I add 2 cans of canned whole potatoes. Remove from oven, take out all the veggies and the roast (boneless brisket) and thicken the gravy with a little cornstarch and water! I do not have a crockpot, I had one once, hated it, everything was overcooked and had not taste.

I have never made a potroast in the pressure cooker! Sometimes, when I got a late start, I would "cheat" and after an hour or so in the oven, I would finish it in the pressure cooker http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/redface.gif Does it get that same carmelly brown look? Do you ever do your corned beef in the pressure cooker? What kind do you have? I have a 4 and a 6 qt Fagor. Had
presto for years and years.
