You are too sweet! I'm getting a bit nervous.... 5 days, ack! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif
It'll be an amazing experience, though, and let me tell you, I cannot wait to make a scrumptious dessert when I get back! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

emilycat - Yes, definitely, good luck!
I ran across this quotation the other day and thought of both you and Natasha:
"We can blaze! Become legends in our own time, strike fear in the heart of mediocre talent everywhere! We can scald dogs, put records out of reach! Make the stands gasp as we blow into an unearthly kick from three hundred yards out! We can become God's own messengers delivering the dreaded scrolls! We can race dark Satan himself till he wheezes fiery cinders down the back straightaway! They'll speak our names in hushed tones,'Those guys are animals' they'll say! We can lay it on the line, bust a gut, show them a clean pair of heels. We can sprint the turn on a spring breeze and feel the winter leave our feet!" - Anonymous

You guys are awesome! I so much appreciate all of your words of encouragement -- I keep telling myself that if I can qualify for the darned thing, I'll certainly run a great race, but there are going to be so many awesome runners there! I don't think I'll be winning any age-group divisions this time!
Don't worry, I'll definitely keep you updated. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Thanks, aggie! This is my third, but you actually can't run Boston as a first marathon; they have qualifying times that you have to meet in order to run the race. I'm so excited to be a part of it -- it'll probably be the most prestigious one I'll ever run!

Hey, Em: I'll be thinking of you out there. I wish you good weather and fleet feet. I'll bet you'll bring your own sense of awe at being there.
BTW: Think we could get lorilei's quote on a T-shirt? But, then, it may inspire people to catch up to you to read the fine print.
Good luck!
Barbara
Emilycat - my brother is running, so I'll be watching. You should wear something distinct, so I can pick you out! We'll be standing in Ashland, I guess it's @ mile 4.
Just entering this race is a great accomplishment, I wish you all the best - Good Luck

Emily, I wish you all the best!! I have not ever been a runner, however, have such great appreciation and admiration for you just the same. If I had to choose what I really like to do, it's swimming. How I wish I had stuck with it early in life.
By the way, did you get to see Tiger Woods at The Masters?

Wow! Two pages of a thread about me http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif
Seriously, it means so much that you all are so excited about this for me -- and if you're dead set on picking me out http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif , I'll probably be wearing a navy v-neck sleeveless sport top and blue running shorts -- and my number's 7923. And how neat that some of you will be there!
My sister and I are hoping we'll stumble into some of the elite field runners (although I won't see a bit of them during the race!).
Anyway, thanks again, everyone!

Please add my GOOD LUCK to you as well. I'll be praying for good weather for you, as most New Englanders know, the weather there can be very tempermental http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Congratulations on qualifying, what an honor! We have a friend who ran the Boston, the adrenilin rush was awesome!! We'll be watching for you, too!
I would love to try just a half-marathon, but get too nervous, actually I become so anxious at races that I have an anxiety attack for 2/3 of the race. Until I can finally settle down to race, it is almost over http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif How do you relax?
Anyway, Enjoy!!

I,too, will be watching the marathon and looking for you...also alternating between the marathon and the Red Sox.
Wear a t-shirt saying emilycat so we all will know you.
You will never know how much I admire anyone that can run a marathon and I wish you great success.
