Question RE: recipe ingredient CL 1/05

New to the forum. Was hoping someone could tell me a suitable substitute for Mace in the Cream of Broccoli Soup recipe in the Jan/Feb 2005 issue. I've heard of Mace before, but never cooked with it and not sure what kind of flavor it imparts. Thanks!

You can substitute nutmeg for the mace.

I always sub nutmeg, not crazy about mace. I do love a little nutmeg with both Broccoli and Califlower soup!

I made the Broccoli Soup from CL J/F '05 and used nutmeg in place of mace. It came out great!

Thanks. I added a little Sherry last night because I wasn't sure about the Mace. Will try again next time with nutmeg. The sherry was a nice addition as well.
