View Full Version : Is there a way to add a 2nd shower head in a shower?

The new house has a huge shower--about 5 feet long. However, with one shower head at one end, most of the space is a total waste. I don't think I want to rip it out and re-plumb, but is there such a thing as an adapter that would extend from the original shower head and add an extra one? That would at least allow DH and I to jump in together and get a head start on the morning without one of us shivering on the "wrong end" of the shower. When I google "dual shower head," I get lots of sites that sell two shower heads right next to each other, for a "spa experience." But I don't want a spa experience--I want water on both ends of the shower! Any ideas?

I doubt that you could add something without tearing up the shower. Even if you could, I don't think the water pressure would be good with two going off at the same time coming out from the same pipe. Of course I'm not a plumber or expert. I'd check with a professional though.

We have a similar situation and DH actually did find some kind of adapter hose thing that connected to the original shower head and then connected to a hand held shower head that we mounted. I know this makes no sense, but he got it all at Home Depot and it was really easy. Shower pressure is better on the original one, but it's not bad. I would go to a home improvement store and check out what they have.

:D LOL!
Funny, b/c when DH started remodeling our current house, we took out the shower head at the other end of the tub. First, it had no controls, second it is a regular (actually on the small side) bath tub/shower arrangement. It was just kinda' creepy. I wanted to replace the entire tub, but that was out of the question.
Oh, did I mention that you could still see the outlines of (the previous residents) mirrors on the ceiling in our bedroom?
Let me add, these people are not the type you want to imagine having things like taht in their house.
It was all very gross!
Sorry, Cookin4Love. Have fun with your dual shower head! ;)
