I really couldn't post how much I have spent because of this BB, I would be put on probation! But after reading the threads, I will have to breakdown and get a KitchenAid Standing Mixer. Maybe, I can ask for it for a birthday gift!!
What are you looking to purchase next?????

I will be purchasing a much-needed microwave in the next few months. Mine is sooo ancient, I tell the kids not to stand near it while waiting for their food to heat up!
On Friday, I purchased a new set of dishes (10 full place-settings), that ALL match and silverware!! It has made such a big difference on how (I feel http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif), & how my table & kitchen look-I wanna have a dinner party!
Heck-as much time as I spend in the kitchen, it's a good feeling to get something that makes it look nice & little easier to cook in http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif Zinnia

A dishwasher/disposal!! My DH and I purchased an older house w/NO kitchen updates. However it has lots of windows & a wall pantry (floor to ceiling cupboards and drawers). Although, I was just dreamin' over an upright freezer yesterday.... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

I am so excited! After possibly six years of pining and waiting and comparison shopping etc, I bought a kitchen aid 11-cup food processor yesterday!!! I am so excited, I could just burst. As far as large appliances, my older house got a new refrigerator last year so the next item is a new dishwasher. Does anyone know of a "touch-up" type paint on product for the dishwasher racks when rust comes through? I ges those racks are rubber coated, but I would like to lenghten my life of it a little. Also, what does DH stand for?
Thanks!
Grace

Pasha,
I got a KitchenAid dishwasher that has nylon racks that never rust or chip off. You might want to consider that when you are buying your new dishwasher.
In the meantime, I found a website that sells several items that can solve your current problem with rusting racks. They have the "paint on" stuff that you describe, as well as "caps" that fit over the spokes. Here is the link to the website
http://www.improvementscatalog.com/
There is a search box at the top of the homepage, just type in "dishwasher", and it will take you to the page with all their dishwasher products. Hope that helps, and CONGRATS on your new food processor!!! You will LOVE it! And I can share in your enthusiasm, as I too, get all excited when I get new kitchen "toys"!

I wondered what DH meant...knew it had to be Dear or Darling or something! My next purchase will be a Kitchenaid or Bosch Standing Mixer! And then a nice Food Processor.....those are the two items at the top of a very long list!

I don't really have anything left to buy. I am really thinking about a Food Saver though. I'm not big into freezing food, but it might be because I'm never successful at doing it. We do waste a lot of food, and I would think it would eliminate that waste. I've read the posts and the raves about it, so I know many of you love yours. I think I have to keep track of the times I would be using a food saver, had I had one, and see if it would be beneficial. Starting today, I will keep track.

What I want and what I need are completely different things! I WANT a KitchenAid Stand-Up mixer. I don't NEED it, because I don't mix that much, and I don't have the counter space for it. I NEED a new microwave because hubby's old one is a 15 year old 'Goldstar'. That's probably what's turning my hair gray! DH says we don't NEED a new micro, because ours works fine, and we'll get a new one when it goes out! Do I really want to be around when the micro goes out??? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif
We are going to need a new fridge within the next year, ours is talking to us daily, moaning and groaning, stomping its foot now and then to get our attention. First time that fridge made that kind of noise DH was out of town, and I thought my kitchen was possessed. We're comparison shopping right now just so we're ready when the demons kill it for good!
I also want to remove our 40 year old Formica countertop and replace it with ceramic tile that DH and I lay ourselves, but that's gonna take some extra 'convincing' on my part...but I'll get it someday! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

After reading some recent posts on the Healthy Living board about ice cream makers (I know it sounds a bit oxymoronic doesn't it, ice cream and the Healthy Living BB), I'm thinking that would be a fun splurge.
I just got married last Spetember so between very generous gifts at showers and the wedding, I am totally spoiled in the kitchen with lots of new things - dishes, silverware, pots and pans, bakeware, stand mixer, food processor, hand blender, etc. I am happy to report I use it all on a regular basis and give thanks to my generous relatives every time I " fire up" the mixer and the food processor.

For Pasha Luber: There is nothing you can do about the rusty racks. If the dishwasher is still in good working condition, contact the maker of the dishwasher, and they can sell you new racks. If you have a MOM & POP
type appliance store in your area, you might be able to get a good set of used racks. These smaller stores (not the mega chains) will take your trade in old appliance, and they keep the good parts and sell them cheap.
Been there done that!

New cookie sheets! Mine have seen better days and need to be replaced desperately.
After that I'm going to work on getting a pot rack... there's just too little storage space in my kitchen!

Although I hate to admit it...CL please forgive me...I am dying to get my hands on a deep fryer...I've seen the DeLongi one...supposedly uses "less" fat...but will probably go for a less expensive model.

I have a (according to Emeril) boat motor on the way! For those of you who don't watch Emeril this is an immersable or wand mixer. Talk about a luxury item! I did not need this. Tsk, tsk!

Right now, I am trying to "decumulate" things both in the kitchen and in my closet. I need to get rid of some things that I don't use and then as a reward to myself, I can get some things that I want like a Le Cruset French oven and a fondue pot. As of right now, I have no cupboard space for this stuff.
My BF has offered me his bbq/smoker and I won't let him give it to me until I call Salvation Army to get rid of the stuff in the garage. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/redface.gif
What a coincidence...after reading a post on here last week sometime, I too have been contemplating buying a Kitchenaid stand mixer !!
My next purchase is going to be a breadpan. Mine is an ekco that is rusting ! So...this purchase is going to be alittle sooner than the kitchenaid I think !

JLS--
I think when Cooks Illustrated did their study on breadpans, they found that the Ekco brand worked the best. Something to think about.

Next purchases: a blender that actually crushes ice--unlike my $10 special and an immersion blender. I asked for both for my birthday. Oh--and two cookbooks.

I just bought a fondue pot- hubby wants to know what I'm going to do with it. Probably a good question. It was from the Tavolo sale. How could I pass it up at that price?
I already have a cuisinart ice cream maker- it is fun! I use it alot! I have a cool daddy fryer, too, which we are pleased with. No frying smell in the house and no burns from oil splattering! Both of those were from BB recommendations.
As for my next purchase? I think I'd get in alot of trouble if I bought anything else!!

A Blender! My little immersion blender won't let me make the smoothies for breakfast that my herbalist is recommending that I make.

Thanks so much for the info about the dishwasher racks, I am trying to get as much life out of this one as possible. I will try the website, and when it finally gasps its last breath, off it goes to salvage! I must say that I used my KA food processor for the first time last night for onions, zuchini and yellow squash for a pizza and wow! How could I have waited so long for this wonder?
Julie O: Was CI talking about the quality of the bread that comes from the pan? Maybe I should go to #2 on their list, considering how I made out with my ecko. (Maybe I bought a bum one!)

If I don't stop buying things for the kitchen pretty soon, my next purchase will be a ticket to the poorhouse. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif

For me it's a second refrigerator. My kids(who are 4,3, and 20 months, and do not even eat much...YET!!) go through at least 3-4 gallons of milk each week. Since I try to shop 1-2 times a week I usually buy 3 gallons at a time. With that and the O.J., A.J., and the other everyday basics(bread etc...) sometime I have to squeeze and manipulate things in when I cook alot(which is often!! And we have a 25 cu. ft refrigerator now. I'll have to padlock the thing when they are teenagers, and actually eat food in quantities!!! Anyway now that we finished our taxes and we don't owe money...it's a second refridge for me, the kids, and the hubby.

I know this isn't very exciting, but my next purhase will be a new waffle iron. My husband makes me waffles every Sunday morning, but I recently broke the handle off our iron. While it still functions, it's very hard to open without burning your fingers. The tongs just aren't working! So, if I want to hold out any hope on him cooking for me, I think it'll be my next purchase.

Mine isn't very exciting ... I need another lazy susan. Too many spices for the first one!
I had already typed a responce (new cooktop with more than 2 burners, and ones that stay flat) when I remembered that I returned the 6 qt crock pot I bought after seeing that you were supposed to double recies in it because it was so large. I recently saw a 4.5 qt one that I am thinking about. Either way, I guess it's a place to cook food. Unless it's a trip to Penzey's!

My house, kitchen and appliances are only a year old so I'm set in that department, however there's already a few things I want to change. On my kitchen island I want a sink and butcher block. I also want a new kitchen table and chairs as the ugly old dark oak table that's we have now clashes w/ the maple cabinets.
I'm also set in the gadgets and cookware department but just for fun I am currently searching for a set of heavy ceramic mixing bowls, preferably cobalt blue or green in color. They're hard to find. I guess I'll have to splurge and get them from William Sonoma.

First of all, jd, that was changed to "party susan" decades ago-never met a lazy susan in my life!
Since we are building a new house I guess I get almost everything new!
Karenw, My guys are now 21, 17 and 14 (not including DH) and my new refrigerator is a Subzero 31 cubic feet-side-by-side refrigerator (no freezer at all), the 22 cu ft freezer will be in the utility room and I can't wait!

I've wondered often about a food processor. I am opposed to buying one because I don't think I would use it enough and because it seems like one more bulky item to store in my kitchen, but many recipes call for me to use one. Could someone elaborate on their benefits? Also what method do I use instead for recipes that call for one? For example the apple tart recipe in this month's Cooking Light says to mix the dough in a food processor. Do I mix by hand instead?
