My DH took me knife shopping (he wanted to surprise me, but knew I had to pick the knife out myself). I came home with a Henckel 8 inch Professional S series chef's knife and matching steel. It is a thing of beauty.
Then my parents were in town on Sunday for one day only, and my mom showed up with the - drumroll! - KitchenAid professional stand mixer. I had only been looking at the Artisan, but there was a great deal at Costco, apparently. So I give up the color (black) I wanted for the bigger/more powerful machine.
I am thrilled. But what do I make first with this baby????? And what do I name him? I'd intended to name him Jet, but he's not black, so I feel it doesn't really work.

How exciting!:D One of the first things I made when I got my Kitchen-Aid mixer was a souffle. I just had to whip up some serious egg whites!! I've had mine for over 3 years and still haven't named it.:(
Happy Early Birthday!

What colour is he?
I got a metallic chrome KA for Christmas. At first, I was certain it was a she and called her Jett, because her shape and colour really look like a jetliner. Then a friend of mine suggested maybe it was actually a boy and I should call it Igor, like the infamous assistant. I haven't quite settled yet. :)
Happy early Birthday to you!

He is white, just like my Cuisinart (that my mother ALSO gave me!) and my mini-cuisinart (ditto). I just haven't been able to think of any white things that suit him. Cloud? Nope. Snowball? Don't think so......

Yeah!! Have fun with it! I have a white one and named him Silver:

I think the first thing I made was pizza dough.

OH that is toooooooo funny. But you're right, he does look like Silver.
Doesn't help me though. My bowl is the lift up kind, no tilt head. Besideas, I wouldn't want to steal your brilliance.
Maybe I will ask the kids. I suspect, in fact I would bet money on it, they will suggest "The Evil Mixer of Chaos". ;)

Happy Birthday! Boy, are you ever a lucky woman! When my mom and brother gave me MY KitchenAid mixer (same as yours), I jumped up and down--literally--because I was so excited. The first thing I made was the CL Double-Coconut Cake. The Fluffy Coconut Frosting is an Italian meringue, so you really get to whip up the egg whites with it. Enjoy!

Actually - a cake would be perfect. Of course, it would be my own birthday cake, but so what?! There is a chocolate layer cake extravaganza on epicurious that looked to die for.
I asked my kids last night, and my oldest DS, a chess fanatic, suggested Bishop. It's white ( he always plays white) and looks a bit like a chess piece to him. I may just keep that one!
