I have "lurked" on this board for a long time and thoroughly enjoyed recipes, reviews and healthy living tips. Thank you. Now for a question.

My husband and I are going to be in NYC for his birthday next week and I am trying to find a place to have a cake made. I know that NY is filled with wonderful bakeries but I don't know where to start. I would love something very different since I am having it delivered to a seminar that he is conducting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have a great day,
Mary Ann

I'm not sure what you are looking for in terms of "different", but I would highly recommend Veneiro's. They have every kind of cake imaginable. Their fruit topped ones, the tiramisu cake and the mocha are all wonderful. It's an Italian bakery in the village and they do with notice deliver uptown. I order through them all the time for work and they have never disappointed.

Some people love the cupcake cafe and while their cakes always look gorgeous, I personally think they taste like lard.
