I recieved a bag of homemade granola for Christmas. Yes, that was four months ago, but granola that tastes like twigs is not going to rot, it's going to last forever.
My question is, can I rebake it with sweetner? And what would be good sweetners, I don't want to waste the items I add. And I don't want to mix wrong ingredients. Brown sugar, maple syrup, raisens, and dates- I know are all good in granola. Any suggestions?

It might taste bad because it has gone bad, as in rancid. Does it have sesame seeds in it? Was it made with oil? A lot of that stuff really needs to be refrigerated to stay fresh.

If you don't like it and it's been hanging around for four months, why don't you toss it? The recipes I read for homemade granola say to throw it away before then.
