So we're roasting a turkey this weekend (using a CL recipe - Herbed Turkey with Roasted Garlic Gravy or something like that, which Tyra kindly recommended). And I'm struggling with what to make with it for some reason - every idea I have sounds very heavy and Thanksgiving-ish and nothing is really inspiring me.

We're having friends join us - anywhere from 4-6 adults and 2-4 kids.

Any inspiring ideas? I'm not aiming for fancy here - we're working on a home renovation project at the same time!

We will often make turkey breasts throughout the year, for sandwiches, casseroles, etc. You may try to do something like a casserole (only in all its seperate parts). Maybe a rice dish, rissoto, or orzo. And steamed or roasted veggies are always good (just tried roasted carrots and they are great). Don't know if that is any help, but good luck. And have fun home renovating.

I would just think of it as a roasted chicken and serve what you normally would with that. Some type of green vegetable (roasted or pan sauteed), tossed salad, rice or potatoes as a starch (or even a really good bread). And something chocolatey for dessert :)

mashed potatoes and gravy or mac & cheese with green beans and/or black eyed peas. A good bread or rolls sound good too.

THanks everyone!

Tyra, we made the turkey you suggested, and it smells heavenly!

I went with a sweet potato/Yukon gold potato recipe with rosemary, parmesan, and roasted garlic - sounded really good. And I'm going to pan saute some broccoli with garlic and lemon and cheese.

Our guests are bringing a pumpkin pie!
