View Full Version : Bachelorette, anyone?
Okay, am I the only one who watched that fiasco last night? Granted, Jen absolutely did the right thing by not accepting his proposal when he asked, given her history...she wanted to take time to get to know him in the "real world", and I think that was very smart.
And at first when she turned him down on live TV last night I thought it was a mutual decision but as time went on it became clear that it was all her...he was quite gracious but it was obvious he didn't have much say in the matter. I kind of laughed when an audience member asked her, "you've rejected 3 fabulous guys...so what is it going to take??"

I didn't watch it yet (tivo'd it), but have heard highlights. I think the whole thing is ridiculous. A week ago, there was a story in one of the entertainment magazines that she apparently started dating someone (Billy) before she started the Bachelorette, and apparently is still dating him. A radio station also mentioned the same story this morning. Assuming that's the case, I really find it disappointing that she would go through with it, playing with these guys' emotions.

I made the mistake of watching last night and was pretty disgusted with the drawn-out, 3-hour finale. I thought Jen did a terrible job communicating her feelings and explaining her decisions. She had 3 months to prepare herself mentally for what she would say to both Jerry and John Paul (and the viewers). I couldn't believe she was so disrespectful to Jerry, a guy who proposed to her!, and did not communicate with him before the show to make sure he understood her decision. It was painfully awkward and sad to watch that interaction on live tv, especially after they played the love song/video! I was not an avid Bachelorette viewer this time around, but I thought she came across very poorly last night. John Paul and Jerry, on the other hand, were gracious, well spoken, and sincere.

I was so mad after she rejected JP, which I knew she would, that I turned off the TV. I did not like Jerry either. That is really low of her if she was dating someone before the show. That is just plain mean to do that to all those guys.
I always get so mad b/c the Bachelor/ette never picks who I like, and say I'm not going to watch the next season, but I do  This next time, I will stand by my word!

I watched but FF over most of it since it was on Tivo. I had a feeling that she was going to say NO to Jerry once I heard she was to give him the answer after the show aired. Once out in the real world, relationships will obviously change. I don't think this one was strong, or based on anything more than an attraction. I think she had had more chemistry with Jerry than with JP, but something about him didn't just say "marriage material" IMO, and I think she felt that way to some degree.
I'll tune in to the next one, but I tivo them and FF over a lot of it. I can't imagine watching every minute of each episode.

I guess I can just record over last night's VCR waste of time then?
She is a lost soul, don't you think?

She certainly did the right thing turning them both down. I was ready to strangle her when she was having a conniption fit over which guy to choose. "The answer's simple: Neither of them is right for you!" JP was too staid and boring (plus he looks like Elvis) and Jerry was just plain tedious to listen to. The man talked in riddles! Listening to him explain himself all the time gave me a headache. Even though, to quote DH, "She isn't the sharpest tool in the shed" she did the right thing. Better luck next time Jen.

I agree - who says she had to pick one, and stay with him, just for the sake of the show.
