Hi Bostonians...

After checking out the dinner menu at Blue Ginger, I'm not sure it would be such a great place to have a get-together. It's tres expensive for dinner ($25-35/entree). Lunch would be much more reasonable, but for some strange reason, they only do lunch on weekdays.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? We can still have a get-together, but maybe at a more wallet-friendly location!:)

Hi Rebecca,
Yes, BG is pricey!
Is it getting close to the Penzey's opening? We'll have to get Helene to check it out again. Maybe we can combine that with a more reasonable dinner in Cambridge or Arlington.

I hope Penzey's is opening soon...I've waited as long as I could and now I'm forced to go to Phoenix to stock up (I'm going there for Spring Break...I swear I'm doing other stuff there besides going to Penzeys! :D).

Penzeys would be a great time and maybe add a Chocolate Tour too! :D

Sue... what's the story behind the new avatar?? Good to hear from you. I'd be up for a Penzey's/Arlington outing. It sounds more wallet-friendly.

Martha...I am well and enjoying the tastings of wines. Ever since a wine tasting party in my home last year, I have been experiencing different reds and whites. I have a glass every night with my dinner. So far, I love Shiraz from Austraila, Merlot and Chianti. Whites would be Reisling (German), Pinot Grigio.

Oh, and I am not ready for AA!....yet :D

Didn't mean to highjack the thread. :D

edited to say that the new VinBin next to Starbucks is a great resource and they have wine tastings every Friday night. I use to work with in the owner. ;)

I think Penzey's is going to be in the Dedham area so eating in Cambridge/Arlington wouldn't make sense. Anyone know any places in the Dedham area to eat?

If it would be in the dedham area, I would suggest Isabella's, a great inexpensive restaurant (entrees around $20 and under). I've been there 2 or 3 times before, great food, nice atmosphere).

If we were going to be in Boston, I would suggest Pierrot Bistro on Cambridge St in Beacon Hill. DH and I just went there last Monday - great, classic french bistro - beef burgundy, duck confit, and vegetarian options. Most entrees under $20 as well.

I can think of some more if these do not sound viable!

Huh? When did that change? Any idea of location?

Isabella's is very good and there are several also close by in Needham, W. Rox and Norwood.

Just delurking to say you might want to mail-order in the meantime. I don't know when your Spring Break is, but I presume it's coming up soon (this month?). The Penzey's is not open here yet either, and as far as I know, there is no tentative opening date yet. :(

I kept trying to search for where I saw this and can't find it. If it is still on for Mass Ave Arlington there are so many wonderful places to eat right on that street, we'll have trouble deciding! :D

I second for Isabella's in Dedham, and if they happen to have the Short Ribs on the menu, they are fabulous. Also the Spring St. Cafe in West Roxbury has wonderful food.

I've eaten at Isabella's in Dedham numerous times and love it. I wouldn't exactly call it "inexpensive", but it's cheaper than Blue Ginger.
