I posted a message a week or so again about my broken cuisinart blade. You helpful folks told me to call the company. I did, and unfortunately they told me that they no longer service or make parts for my cuisinart (I told you it was old).

Anyhow, they said they have a trade-in program. You send them your old machine and they give you a (supposedly large) discount on a refurbished machine, with a one-year warranty. The sales rep. told me that their most expensive machine (that sells for $1000 is available for $500 through this program. Of course, I don't think I need that one, but I am waiting for them to send me the rest of the info in the mail.

If anyone is interested I can send you more info when I receive it.

BTW, if anyone has an old blade for a CFP 9 food processor (or knows where I can get one)let me know, maybe I can hold off on trading mine in.

When I was looking on Ebay for parts for my old Cuisinart, there was a place in Florida (?) that claimed to have parts. Sorry --I don't have the site, but maybe you could look through Ebay's listings.

WHOA! A friend of mine JUST replaced her old Cuisinart (as in 18 years old) because the plastic lid/pusher thing finally crumbled away. I wish I'd known about the rebate a while ago. She got a good deal on the new one, but it could have been even better... I'll keep this in mind when I replace mine 17 years from now!

Really, a $1000 food processor should clean itself. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

ewatkins, thanks for the tip about ebay [I am now becoming an ebay addict]. I was shocked to find two people selling the same model cuisinart.

Apparently it is from 1976. Amazing! I am going to wait to see how good the deals are for the trade-in program, but I may wind up spending around $25 to get either a set of blades or buy a used machine that has the blades with it and just use the parts.

I figure it might break down soon, but it is worth $25 to keep it running for another year or so. It has sentimental value, after all.

Hi. A while back my DH used The Gourmet Depot 1-800-424-6783 accesories, part service (Mon-SAt). For service:415-362-7195 (shipping within 24 hrs). Maybe they can help you with a the part you need replaced.

Just to update...

Gourmet depot *does* sell the part, thanks Vanessa. It is $27 plus shipping. Not bad.

I got the trade in information. It looks pretty good, but I checked the chef's catalog website (www.chefscatalog.com) and they are selling the new DLC series for a little more than the refurbished ($20-30). Plus, I wouldn't have to pay to ship my old machine to cuisinart. I think the prices have plummeted since they have introduced a new line.

Anyhow, thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I haven't decided whether I should buy the part, a new/old modelcuisinart (really good deal) or new/newer model.
