Did you watch?? After a 5 week hiatus, I couldn't wait for the show to start last night. Just before it started, I wondered if I would even remember what had been going on so many weeks ago. I thought they did a really great job catching us up on many of the storylines. I also thought they did an excellent job introducing some new storylines. I really enjoyed the show.

I think one of the main reasons I like this show so much is that constantly come up with surprises - new twists in the characters' personalities, wild story lines, great one-liners.

The best part - 7 more shows in a row!! :D We'll have new shows almost through the month of May! It works for me!! :D

For some reason, i thought last week was going to be the new one. I was so disappointed when it wasn't. I loved last night's episode and Rob even managed to stay awake through the whole thing! :p got him hooked now...

'Bout time they had a new one! With Gaby and Carlos -- surely they could have sold something in their house or jewelry to come up with the cash for the sewer piping, no?

I can't get DH to watch this. The only time he watched it for 5 minutes, it was when the two teenaged boys were under water in the pool, and one popped up and said "I'm not gay!" That pretty well ended the husband's interest in the show...;)

My favorite part was Edie and Susan hiding behind the couch, and then Susan crawling down the walkway to the street, she's hilarious. Oh and then when Mike kissed her. Sigh.

I thought it was great too! My husband is actually the one who got me hooked on the show! I didn't watch the first one or two episodes because I didn't want to get hooked on another TV show.

We had to tape this because I thought we might get home too late from my mom's. DH would not let me watch it by myself so I have to wait until we can watch it together, hopefully tonight.
Can't wait!

My favorite line of the night, when Edie and Susan were talking in the bar, "Just what the h-ll kind of street do we live on??" :D

I loved that line too! Also, when Edie kissed Mary Alice's husband (to let Susan escape), then tried to back out of it, but he was into it. Mike and Susan's kiss (sigh). Stealing the porta-potty and doing laundry in the hot tub were ridiculous (but funny).

DH will watch if he's around; DD is a fanatic, and has been quite annoyed at all the reruns.

Can someone give a re-cap? I have a bad sinus cold and went to bed an hour before it even came on. I don't tape shows b/c we don't have cable and it is difficult to tape a show from an antenna-powered tv!

TIA!

I tivo-d it and started to watch this afternoon. I am kind of getting sick of it, to tell the truth. Don't know quite why I'm hanging in there. :o

ABC does a pretty good recap. You can find it here (http://abc.go.com/primetime/desperate/recaps/ep16.html)

I feel like I missed an episode at some point for some reason. They didn't show Zack at all this past week did they? For some strange reason I think he's really a girl? Maybe he's Dana? Does anyone else think that, or am I totally crazy?

Don't forget that "Dana" could also be a guy's name.

You probably didn't miss an episode. It's been 5 weeks since the last show. They had so many story lines going at that point, they didn't touch on all of them this week. The only kids mentioned this week were Susan's daughter and Lynette's boys. (Or at least I don't remember any of the other kids showing up.)

I know what you mean. I thought it was rather a weak episode. I was getting impatient with the whole plumbing thing and with the lice business. Yawn...boring. I did think it funny though when Gabby was telling Mike they were trying to 'prioritize' household projects and he asked her: "And you don't think sewage backing up into your house is high on the list?" and Marcia Cross's character is just great: Showing up at the prison with a basket of muffins and telling Rex through gritted teeth at the country club that he'd better sit down if he knew what was good for him. Bree's a hoot. Hey, nobody mentioned...from the previews for next week, looks like Mamma Solis wakes up! :D

Anyone watch on Sunday? We now know how Gabrielle gets to stay in the neighborhood. :D

I watched the show on Sunday. I think it was one of those interesting shows, but not one of their most incredibly written shows. They had a few one-liners that were pretty entertaining.

I think the most shocking scenes had to do with Andrew. The car scene in the parking lot at the school were pretty wild in itself <big puff of smoke>. The scene in his bedroom with Bree when he asked for money and she told him 'no' definitely showed so much disrespect. But, WOW!!, the scene when the two guys where accompanying him to his new "camp" was shocking! I do like how Rex is finally supporting Bree.

I didn't really like any of the Marlee Matlin scenes at all...her husband was a jerk.

What's the guess on what will happen with Gabby? We saw the previews with John. What about the pills that Carlos "doctored"?? There are supposedly rumors about someone becoming pregnant on the show. Since we saw him tamper with her pills, it actually makes me think it won't be her. When has this show ever been obvious about anything?

And, Susan, open the freakin' letter! Too bad she slid it back beneath his door. I did want to shake her and tell her to just be quiet when she was out with Bill. Silly girl. She has it bad.

I thought I saw the whole episode, but I swear I didn't see any pill-tampering.

I thought it was very funny when Mama Solis was able to walk so well after being in a coma for all those months. She has herself some goooooooooood muscles.:D

I know!! I said the same thing to Rob. like she would be able to stand, let alone walk!
And the pill tampering was a month and a half ago..

While I was watching this scene I was thinking of some friends of ours who sent one of their kids to a camp like that and that's exactly how it happened (from what I understand) - they just come into the house (with the parent's consent and knowledge of course) and take the kid. I was thinking how traumatizing and brave that must be for the parents. They know they have to take drastic measures to straighten their child out but it must be hard to watch, all the while wondering "Are we doing the right thing?"

I really like Marlee Matlin though. She's an unusual actress - carving out a successful acting career despite her deafness. There's so much competition for roles that it's hard enough for most actresses just to get cast.

Report: 'Housewives' Flip Out at Shoot
By Associated Press

April 6, 2005, 7:28 AM EDT

NEW YORK -- They may appear sultry and ready for summer on the May cover of Vanity Fair, but according to the magazine, the stars of ABC's "Desperate Housewives" were actually steaming angry.

Vanity Fair's cover proclaims: "You wouldn't believe what it took just to get this photo!" The article acknowledges that the poolside photo shoot, in which the five women appear in different colored bathing suits, was manned by an ABC representative who was to make sure that certain demands were met -- including that Teri Hatcher didn't select her wardrobe first or appear in the center of any group photo.

"Whatever you do," the ABC rep, who wasn't identified by name, said when he arrived on the set, "do not let Teri go to wardrobe first."

Despite the rep's plea, Hatcher was the first "housewife" to visit wardrobe, and she had consulted with the stylist days in advance. At one point, the rep proclaimed: "This is a problem. I'm getting text messages from Eva (Longoria). Everything is not fine."

The struggles continued once the photographer started snapping. Redhead Marcia Cross turned red-hot when she saw Hatcher standing next to her in the center of the shot, according to the article. Cross grabbed her bathrobe and stormed egoff, spewing expletives at the ABC rep.

Hatcher later walked to the other end of the set, where "she got into a tearful, heated conversation on her cell phone."

In the fold-out May cover, which hits newsstands April 12, the center position belongs to Nicollette Sheridan, who's flanked by Hatcher and Cross with Longoria and Felicity Huffman posed beneath them on a chaise -- although Cross and Huffman can't been seen when the cover is folded.

Also in the article, the women discuss the media blitz surrounding the show and its stars. Huffman believes a "Desperate" backlash is imminent while Cross just ignores it all.

"Honestly, I don't read it," Cross told Vanity Fair of the media coverage. "And I don't even watch the show right now. It's too much. It's just too much..."

'Desperate' for Attention?

The claws are out on Wisteria Lane; Plus, news on Heath and Michelle, Jude and Sienna, and much more ...

April 4, 2005

Is success spoiling the "Desperate Housewives"? A Vanity Fair photo shoot featuring the stars of the smash ABC dramedy reportedly deteriorated into obscenities and tears, with one Wisteria Lane resident becoming so irate she stormed off the set.

The issue, out on April 12, features Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Nicollette Sheridan, Eva Longoria and Felicity Huffman on the cover in vintage-looking bathing suits, along with interior snaps of them in provocative poses. But it was the sexy swimwear that apparently provided the catalyst for the alleged catty behavior.

Cindy Adams claims Cross, in a very un-Bree-like moment, went "apoplectic" when Hatcher emerged onto the closed set in a va-va-va-voom red one-piece. Seems there was some concern that the Golden Globe-winning actress had hit the wardrobe department first and called dibs on the most flattering ensemble.

When the five ladies lined up for the group shot, which took place poolside at the L.A. estate of the late Bing Crosby, tensions boiled over.

"When Cross saw that Hatcher was beside her in an eye-popping cherry-red bathing suit, she exploded, grabbed her bathrobe and walked off the set," says Vanity Fair (via the Insider).

Marcia's huff was purportedly accompanied by several four-letter words not fit for primetime, while Teri "just stood there, doing her best to work with the situation."

In an attempt to resolve the divalicious conflict, Cross and Hatcher were separated, says the mag, with one standing on the far left and the other on the far right with Sheridan doing her impression of Switzerland in the middle (Longoria and Huffman are seated in the shot).

During the first break on the seven-hour shoot, Hatcher reportedly headed off to make a "tearful, heated" phone call. No word on whom she reached out and touched, but we're guessing her agent, manager, publicist and lawyer all got an earful.

"I'm just doing my thing -- you know what I mean?" Teri told Vanity Fair in the accompanying interview. "I just show up on time, do my work, do my part, get the show promoted, help people, sign autographs."

It turns out Cross wasn't the only housewife supposedly acting up on the set, which Entertainment Tonight reports was filled with more than one hundred staffers, including five hairdressers, three makeup artists and many, many assistants. Adams claims Longoria's attempts to validate her hotness-level ended with an exasperated executive telling her, "This is not just about you!"

You'll recall that the pint-sized actress recently complained about how tough it is for her to pose with her more mature castmates because she's so darn dewy and pretty.

"I always have this problem at photo shoots, when all of us are together," she kvetches in the April issue of Marie Claire. "I'll get the least attention. [The photographers or stylists will say], 'She'll look good in anything.' Or, 'Oh, she doesn't need the best lighting, because she'll look good in any light.' I'm like, 'No, I need help, too!'"

Eva, meanwhile, raised eyebrows at the Padres Contra El Cancer gala last week when she turned up with actor Butch Klein (no, we have no idea who he is, either).

The New York Post reports the actress, who is the spokeswoman for the children's cancer charity, was doing a meet-and-greet with the press when one reporter had the audacity to ask, "Is that your new boyfriend?" Snipped her publicist, who it seems hasn't grasped the nature of that whole pesky "reporting" thing, "You ask too many questions."

Longoria, who was joined at the event by Cross and Huffman, has recently been romantically linked to both former boy-bander J.C. Chasez and San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker.

In addition to stumping for charity, Eva is also pursuing less altruistic opportunities. The London Sun says she recently inked a lucrative deal to shill for L'Oreal.

"She's been told she was picked for her stunning face and figure but also because of her glossy hair," an insider tells the paper (Eva was also apparently picked for her ability to be sucked up to). "Eva is absolutely thrilled and looking forward to getting started."
