I made this last night as a side dish to Pasta with Caramelized Onions and Red Peppers (April 1998), which is a superb pasta dish. I thought it was pretty good and the basil is a nice touch, but I would toast the bread first, then spread on the topping and broil. There was no time for the bread to get toasty. My DH loves onions so he loved this meal. He would give the bread about an 8.5 and I would give it a 7 or so. Oh, I also served steamed broccoli on the side, and he ate all of the broccoli on his plate first. He claimed this was so he could, "enjoy the rest of the meal." http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
