Well, I really did have gallstones! Nine of them...nine of them the size of dice!!!! And I was asymptomatic!!! Right now I'm a bit sore, surgery was yesterday at 7:00am and I came home today at noon...made it up to the computer by 3:00 :p !! I'm amazed at how much pinker my skin tone is and how much whiter the whites of my eyes, in just 24 hours!
So it has been a fairly interesting week for me but hopefully I'm done with medical matters for awhile...till August when I hope to finally get my vericose vein taken care of! By then I may even venture my way back to the dentist's office that started all this!;)

Glad to hear the surgery went well - I hope you recover very quickly!
I know at least 5 people (3 from the same family!) who have had their gallbladders removed in the past year - my best friend, her brother (within a month of each other), her husband, my boss, and my secretary's daughter. I am afraid it might be contagious! ;)

Sneezles, you have joined a club that I became a member of at age 20! So glad your surgery went well--you'll be surprised at how much better you feel. Eventhough YOU didn't know there was a problem...your body knew.
Here's to a very speedy recovery!!

Glad everything went okay and that you're home- best wishes for your recovery!!
Susan- I'm glad to hear your surgery was successful, and good to see you online. I hope your recovery is speedy and goes well for you. My sister had her gallbladder out a few years ago and felt so much better after recovering, so I'm sending good thoughts for the same for you!

I think I missed a post about you going in for gallbladder surgery!!
I'm so glad it turned out OK.
I'm surprised they did surgery on someone who is asyptomic, but it sounds like you had some jaundice, which technically is a symptom ;)
Speedy recover!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear everything went well Susan. :)
I was having back pain the other day and they did an ultrasound on my gallbladder (all clear). I was a bit confused, but from what I've now read about them, they can be tricky little buggers!
Many good health wishes coming your way - you've been through more than enough lately!
Alysha :)
Wow, Sneezles, I knew you hadn't posted on the "eating as the French do" thread in a while, but I had no idea you were having surgery! So glad to hear that all went well and you're home recovering!

Kari,
My liquid diet for the past week has been nothing to brag about! ;) Though I did have some soups prepared before I went in for surgery the 3 days of clear liquids was very difficult to be enthused about. And since I've actually gained weight since Sunday it's a bit depressing but I know it's fluids, that saline IV didn't do much for my low-sodium diet ;) or fluid retention so I'm looking forward to enjoying real food again!
Thanks for all the well wishes! And Alysha, glad to hear your's was clear!! These staples are the worst!
Glad you are feeling better, Susan. Could you please tell me how a trip to the debtist started all of this? I may have missed this part, but I am curious.:)

Vicky,
I went to the dentist back in October and they found that I had very high blood pressure readings...I'd never had my blood pressure taken at the dentist's office (and actually felt the dentist was "safe" in regards to finding stuff wrong with me:rolleyes: , I mean you'd pretty much know yourself if anything was wrong inside your mouth before you went, right?). So after a couple of visits and some cleanings they refused to do anything else until I got a dr's OK because they said with my bp that high I could have a very negative reaction to anesthesia. So I went to the dr to find out not only did I have high bp but insulin resistance, high lipids, high cholesterol, very high tryglicerides and very low HDL. Next was the discovery of some skin cancers and it was the blood work for that procedure that led to the discovery of an elevated liver enzyme. So after having an abdominal ultrasound it was discovered that I had gall stones...I've yet to find the time to return to the dentist to have my broken tooth repaired...

I was also on clear liquids recently and was rather disappointed to learn that vodka is not considered an appropriate clear liquid! :D
Glad you're feeling better!

Sneezles,
Glad to hear that you are on the road to recovery. Isn't it amazing how much better you feel? I am in the "gallbladder challenged" group too. It sounds as though you may have gone through a bit more than I did, as I did not have staples. Was yours keyhole surgery? I put up with the pain for quite awhile before I went in to have the gallbladder removed. It probably didn't help that the doctor was treating me for 3 mths as an ulcer patient

If that's the same as lapryscopic then yes! I have 5 incisions (3 of them have only one or two staples) and two are larger with 5 and 6 staples each. The one just above the navel is where they pulled out the stones, that and the one just above it (the other large one) are the ones that bother me the most but I get them removed on Thursday!!

Yep, that's the one. I had three incisions - lights, camera, action - and stitches rather than staples. Only a couple of days and those bothersome ones will be out.
Geez, Susan, whoda thunk a visit to the dentist would reveal that much info unrelated to teeth? Glad that you are on the road to recovery and can be mindful of other health issues.

I just wanted to wish you well. I always heard the teeth are directly related and sometimes the cause of some health issues.
Hope you are back to normal soon.
