I'm new to all this so please bear with me: I can't figure out how to enter a recipe into the CL "My Cookbook" feature by using the cut and paste commands...everytime I do this, the whole recipe just streams together in one long paragraph. I have gone into edit mode once the recipe is stored, but even after I edit the whole thing to look right, when I go check it, it still is one giant paragraph.
What am I doing wrong here?
Are you using import assistant? It's in the newer versions of MasterCook (5.0 +, I think). GO up to the pull down for File, click on import assistant. It will create a new recipe page for you and then a window on top of that. Type "@@@@@" on the first line of that top window, then the recipe title on the line below. You can paste the entire recipe in at this point, but you need to check a few formatting points before you complete the recipe.
First, make sure the recipe title is on the 2nd line, right below the @@@@@. Next, make sure you have a line with nothing entered in it between the title and the list of ingredients. Put any notes or such before or after the instructions.
Make sure all the ingredients are listed without any blank lines between them. Import Assistant will read the text following ingredients and a blank line as instructions, even if it is more ingredients. Also, once you import the text, you cannot add lines, so if you want to have skipped lines between parts of a long block of text, clean it up before importing.
When you think you have the formatting the way you want it, right click inside the box and then click on select all. The auto fill button will be highlighted. Click on it, and Mastercook will import the recipe into the new recipe window. Click done and review the recipe, then save it.

This is so embarrassing, but this is how ignorant I am: I don't even know what Master Cook is? I've seen many references to it in these threads, but am unsure of what it is...I'm assuming it's a kind of software you can buy, right? Anyway, I don't have it.
I was just going to the recipe finder tab on the cooking light website, then clicking on My Cookbook, and then clicking on "Enter my own recipe". Then, I was pasting a previously copied recipe from one of the threads on the BB. That's when it would appear as a big long paragraph.
Should I be buying this Master Cook software? Or any other suggestions? Thanks so much.
