I tried the Salsa Picante last night. It is wonderful. I love this recipe. It uses canned tomatoes and tastes great and incredibly fresh. I changed mine a bit. I only used the can of tomatoes that was combined in the food processor. I used frozen onion (b/c I didn't have fresh, but I think this may have made the onion taste milder), and I used less onion. I also used 1.5 jalapenos and about 3/4 of a serrano pepper. I would still like it to be hotter, though. I'm going to try making it again today with two jalapenos and 1.5 or two serranos.

This is a GREAT salsa. Give it a try.

We also liked this salsa. I made it as written and was very surprised that the canned tomatos tasted so fresh. I did think it had a bit too much lime flavor in it so if I make it again I would decrease the lime juice to 2 tablespoons.

I've been making this recipe for eons except I put both cans of diced tomatoes in the blender and these days I use no-salt added tomatoes ;) . This is the best example of where to use a white onion instead of yellow or sweet. I also find that today's jalapeņos don't pack much heat so I usually leave the seeds and veins in at least one of the chiles.
