My son got hold of a Bic ballpoint pen and colored on our flat screen computer monitor. I tried ammonia and water and just plain water on a paper towel to remove the ink and none of it has come off.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

I don't know if you want to try this, but hair spray works great at removing ink from clothing.

Well, we don't have a flat screen monitor, but DD2 did the exact same thing this week. I got it off with windex, and a little elbow grease.

Thanks for the great advice ladies. I also asked my father-in-law what to use as he's a computer junkie. He said to use Goo Gone (not Goof Off).
It worked like a charm! It took a few minutes of rubbing but all the ink came off.
FYI--Goo Gone is organic and uses no harsh solvents (according to the bottle).
I appreciate your coming to my rescue:D

My son did the same darn thing! I was so annoyed. I used just plain water on my fingertip and rubbed for a few minutes and it came off. Whew.

If you get really stumped and are arent' sure if a particular solvent will work, go to the company website of the offending product... if they don't list a solvent, I bet there will be a # you can contact....

I'd call the manufacturer (of the monitor that is) for suggestions before I started messing around with different kinds of solvents. You might inadvertently damage it more. Good luck.

Baby wipes remove an amazing number of spills and stains on surfaces - even Sharpie marks. Makes me wonder what all is in them...

Thanks for all the great advice. I'd never have thought of using a baby wipe.
So far the monitor looks good as new. The manufacturer did say not to use anything on the monitor except water because of the sprayed on glare guard. I think their warning for people who clean their monitor on a regular basis.
In any event, we got the ink off and the monitor is working and appears just as it did before the graffiti.
