I must confess: I don't like cheesecake.
(audible gasps throughout the board)
I love ice cream and other desserts, but to me cheesecake has a funny texture (yes, i have tried at least a dozen) and is not worth the calories. I would rather have a brownie. I even made a cheesecake for my CL dinner group and I did not eat any of it.
Does anyone else dislike cheesecake?

I don't like cheesecake either! It's so nice to know there's someone else out there. For me I think it's the rich, creamy, thick texture that's a turn off.

I sure wish I was with you there. To me, cheesecake is close to heaven ... especially if it contains chocolate. Count your blessings that you don't like it!

Personally I like cheesecake, but not all cheesecakes are equal. Some can be really heavy and the texture is a turnoff. If it's really creamy I like it.
My husband, father-in-law and brother-in-law however, do not like cheescake. Husband & father-in-law think its an oxymoron to have sweet cheese stuff and brother-in-law doesn't eat anything white (strange I know). So you are not alone!

I also wish I didn't like cheesecake, but I absolutely love it. It's one of my vices -- that, chocolate, and ice cream. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I have a friend who hates cheesecake. Unfortunately, not me; I absolutely love it!! The richer the better. Consider yourself lucky.

I'm with you Jessica. I like cheesecake but its not my number one request. Like you, I would rather have a brownie, cookie or nice piece of cake or other sweet instead. Creme Brulee is my ultimate favorite and if a menu has it listed than I will not look any further and order it! Yummmmm

I LOVE cheesecake, but only certain ones again. My MIL make a terrible one because it is not baked, but refigerated instead. The ones I like are baked, usually chocolate, and fattening. I must admit that I love the lemon curd CL recipe too!

For a long time, I didn't like cheesecake because of the ones I had tried at family gatherings. But, then I was taken to The Cheesecake Factory while I was on a school trip. OH MY GOSH! Do I wish I had never tasted their cheesecake! I think I had the snickers cheesecake there(it was so good!)-and that was what converted me to a cheesecake fan!

I don't really like it at all. DH hates it-says it's so rich it makes him sweat.
Heavy dairy, creamy tasting things make me ill. I can't even stand yogurt or ice cream; cheesecake is even worse! I'm more of a cookie and cake fan. I also like sorbets.

I can not stand cheesecake! Icky!!!!! And I'm happy I don't like it. Now carrot cake is another thing. So it really can't be cream cheese that I don't like about it.
I live by Eli's cheesecake factory. I purchase a few a year and take them to gatherings. Everyone is very happy to eat it and I'm not tempted to have a single bite. It's my form of 'dessert control.'

My SIL hates cheese. Any kind of cheese. I don't know how she does it. I'd die withouth cheese. For Christmas, she made a cheesecake for dessert because she knew she'd never eat it!

I just want to say that after I read your "confession" and actually gasped and then I read your comment and I laughed out loud. What a funny way to start my day.

I actually love cheesecake, but I'll make you feel better by confessing that I don't like chocolate. I know, now the true gasps of horror are coming http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif. I'm crazy, right? When I was a kid, I used to tell people I was allergic to it cause I thought they would find me strange otherwise. Now, I admit it but people definitely think I'm nuts. Oh well. Now, don't you feel better about not liking cheesecake! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Kerri--glad I could be a source of amusement http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif
I do know people who do not like chocolate, but all except one are male. My DH prefers vanilla and fruit flavors and I am a chocolate addict, so I tease him and call vanilla the anti-flavor.

Rinsav, I too hated chocolate as a child. I don't know why, or when I started liking it, but I remember that my parents LOVED halloween because they'd immediately pull all of the chocolate out of my bag and just go to town.
Oh, how I wish I could go back to those days... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif

I do love cheesecake, but I don't like it everyday. I have a sweet tooth and love to bake, but I can never repeat one thing too often, that's why I love Cooking Light and other magazines to get new dessert recipes. But when I do eat it, cheesecake is one of my favorite desserts. I make a great Cranberry swirl cheesecake that I posted in another thread recently.

Oh goodness, you are NOT alone!! I personally DETEST cheesecake. Only recently have I found that I do not hate all things cream cheese, as I once thought. A couple of years ago I tasted a nibble at a party that had what I thought was a ranch dressing with veggies on it, a Veggie Pizza. I absolutely LOVED it and silently went back again and again. Then hubbie whispered in my ear that I was actually eating cream cheese. I really couldn't believe it!!
After that I found the joy of cream cheese buttercream. How on earth I made it this far in my life without cream cheese buttercream I have no idea, but I now use it more and more, I even keep carrot cake nibbles in the freezer with icing for those "moments".
Anyway, it's funny because EVERYONE goes nuts over my cheesecake. I have had more people want me to ship cheesecakes instead of just cookies. They go on and on how I could have a cheesecake only business. I have only tasted cheesecake once, and that was a nasty experience, but I continue to come up with great new flavors, I just don't eat them myself!!

I LIKE cheescake OK, but I can certainly live w/o it. I definately have a sweet tooth (and you all know how I LOVE chocolate!) - but cheescake is in the "take it or leave it" category. And believe me, I AM grateful! I have enough temptations! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
