Inspired by the recent threads on bad neighbor situations, I finally decided to address my neighbor problem. I live in a condo and there is a couple the next building over who have been putting their dogs out on the screened-in porch and letting them bark for what seemed like hours on end. Last night was the last straw when they were out there after midnight and I couldn't fall asleep because of them. I knocked on their door this afternoon and noone was home, so I went back and left them a note, explaining the problem and requesting that they not leave the dogs out after 10:30PM. I gave my name, address, and phone number.
A couple of hours later, the guy called me and apologized, and said he didn't realize that the barking was bothering people or that they were barking at night. He said he wished I had said something earlier, and I didn't need to worry about it because it wouldn't be a problem any more. He was nice as can be, and hopefully he'll follow through. So this is a bit of encouragement for those of you with neighbor problems to talk to them before doing something more drastic.
