I'm making the cous cous w/currants and the yogurt marinated chix thighs tonight (thighs have been marinading since Tuesday night!). I don't think I have ever had currants, and I couldn't find them in the store today -- what can I sub?

Currants are just small, seedless raisins. They should be w/ the raisins in your grocery aisle. For your recipe, I would just chop up regular raisins!

Or, dried cherries or cranberries? Craisins?

I'm with sandym - I was thinking currants are red & tart - more flavor than a regular raisin. I'd try a craisins also, or dried cherries.

Actually, currants do look and taste like small raisins when they've been dried, but in the fresh form, they are a completely different fruit. They are small, red, tart little berries.

I would use chopped up raisins as a good substitute.
