In an effort not to sabotage my new exercise program I am trying to stay away from Frappuccino's. At a lot of coffee shops you can get something called an Italian Creme Soda. I have a favorite that is soda water, sugar-free caramel Torani syrup, sugar free chocolate Torani syrup, and a splash of half & half (yes they looked at me a little strange when I asked them to make this - I call it a Milky Way). Apart from the sodium, if there anything bad about this drink that I am not realizing? Are there hidden calories somewhere (apart from the half & half) or if this a relatively low-fat/cal drink? I guess I could sub skim milk for the half & half but it really is just a splash.

I think you've accounted for all the "bad" stuff in an Italian Creme Soda. It's one of my favorites, too! However, I never seem to find a coffee shop that has ALL the ingredients.

Thanks for the reply! So I guess I can happily sip away and not feel too guilty. I got over the ingredient problems by buying a small bottle of each flavoring for home and some cans of soda water. Luckily my local Barnes and Noble also stocks these flavors. The first time I asked them to make it I think the girl thought I was from another planet. I guess she didn't realize that I did not take the drink "to go" - I was still sitting at one of the tables. I could hear her chatting away to one of her co-workers about this weird drink. Anyway she decides that she needs to try this drink and makes herself one. Obviously she liked it because she spent the rest of the time (that I was there) trying to get customers to try it. I thought about asking to have the drink named after me, but Milky Way sounds so much better ;)

Gecko, you can also get an iced coffee with a little flavored syrup and a little half and half or skim milk...and then ask them to put it in the blender. The ice gives it that frappuchino texture without all the calories. :D

I can't stand those frappuchinos because they're so rich, so I do the above. I only do it if I get an experienced barista. Most of them catch on pretty quick.

Sounds great. What amount of the syrups do you use and with what amount of soda?? I'll try it tomorrow.

Wow sure sounds yummy to me!

We all need a little treat every now and then and it sounds like this is a very reasonable one !
