View Full Version : POLL: How many guys are here?
I have always wondered how many men are lurking or participating on these boards. So all you guys- stand up and be counted. I'd love to know if you are the main cook in the household etc. Don't be shy!!

Add me to the Ed fan club. He tells the most wonderful stories that always bring a smile. And I was just thinking we hadn't heard much from our other guys lately, either.

So -- Al, when did you have your sex change operation, and when did they improve this surgery to enable you to have children -- Mr. Stay-At-Home-Mom to 2 beautiful boys. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif
Also, if I remember right, AD is a guy.

Maybe Matt is studying for finals?
Ralph just posted the other day about UBB codes.
But we haven't heard from Ed in a very long time!

I think it is fantastic that there are men on this board. My DH just rolls his eyes when he sees me on this board - or any cooking website. Oh well, I am the one who enjoys the cooking, and he helps with the cleaning. I really wouldn't want it the other way around. LOL
So all you men, come out, come out, where ever you are!!! This is not the time to be shy!!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

I guess it's true about women talking more. Here's a thread that asks all the men to come forward and there's nothing but posts from women! That's funny, I was wondering just today what happened to Ed. I hope everything's okay.
Yes, I am a male. I'm 19 and a senior in high school, so I only live with my mother and often have to give away the things I make since just the two of us cannot usually eat the whole thing (and the freezer is already overstocked). I can't eat many things myself because of digestive problems.

I'm a male....and I'm the head cook of the household. Of course...I'm the only one in the household! :-)

I've been wondering about Ed too (and now worrying about him). Hope everything is OK Ed. We miss you!
I just did a search and I don't think Ed has posted since March (unless I missed something). Where are you Ed???

One more vote for the return of Ed and Matt. As a fellow Minnesotan, may I suggest that perhaps Ed got tired of this endless winter and moved to Tahiti.

Yes, I'm here!!!!!!
Just haven't felt as "talkative" lately; doing a lot of work trying to change career direction slightly, so time to reply is rather limited. But, rest assured, I still read the BB daily!
Funnybone, my situation is just the opposite: While my DW seems to be interested in my discussions about these BBs, her eyes often do roll!
And, yes, I do consider myself the main cook, though my DW does cook about half the time, too. But I'm more willing to do more challenging or more unusual recipes.

I am male, who was strongly encouraged to become the head cook. My wife stated a while ago that she will soon retire from the kitchen!

High Sierra...I would definately say you were strongly encouraged.
I didnt know you were allowed to reitre from any household project. Ok. I retire from paying all the bills and budgeting our money. That will free up even more time for cooking and this BB! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Kim, I know this it OT but, just wanted to suggest a solution to bills and budgets my husband and I came up with. 6 months on, 6 months off. His 6 months just ended so I have 6 months on now. You should have seen the dance DH did in the livingroom when he realized his sentence was up! Sigh. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it.

Kim, I just did this after being responsible for all financial matters for 9 years, and it is remarkably liberating http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Give it a try if you can! LGBurns -- since I had 9 years on, does that mean I get 9 years off?

I am here, been busy with studying finals. Remind me why I am so lucky? I am happy spring break is next week.
Hi, and hello, to all you fine people.
It's true I haven't been on the BB as much as I would like to be, and I sure
didn't mean to cause any of you to worry, or to be concerned.
Sharon and I are doing fine. For a couple of retired people we're keeping
plenty busy doing many of the things we would have done before if we would
have had the time.
We're still cooking, and volunteering, and spending as much time as possible
with our family.
For instance we will be at our youngest Daughter's home, and Church, this
Sunday for our Grandson's First Communion. We're taking my Mother along, and
I'm encouraging her and Sharon to tell the kids about hanging May Baskets
and making some up with them. Also I will be tilling up the garden for my
Daughter, so it looks like it will be a day filled with activity.
Have you ever wondered why people hop and skip around a May Pole on the
First of May? Well after a winter like we've had here in Minnesota you don't
have to wonder any more, those May Pole dancers are just thrilled that the
winter weather is finally coming to an end.
Those of us who toughed it out and survived the winter of 2000 & 2001 here
in Minnesota will have just cause to celebrate on the First of May.
Those of you who were unfortunate enough to miss out on our winter weather,
and who can't brag about surviving it, are still welcome to celebrate on May
First with the rest of us though. We winter Survivors are a very Tolerant
people, and welcome all of our friends to join with us in Maypole dancing.
Here is a little rhyme that you can shout out when you hop around the May
Pole, and run from house to house delivering all those May Baskets on May
1st
"Hooray, Hooray, the First of May, outdoor necking starts today."
Best Wishes and Happy Cooking to all of you.

OHHHHH ED!!!! I'm SOOOOO happy to see you back. We did indeed miss you!!
Congratulations to you and your family on your grandson's First Communion, and how WONDERFUL that your mother is still around to see and enjoy all her family.
Yours sounds like a wonderful life. We too have survived the tough winter here in Chicago, and while I have never done a Maypole dance before, I think I just might this year in your honor!
Enjoy your weekend, and don't forget us here. It's just not the same without you!

Hey, all you guys, you bring a great variety to this board!
Good to see you Matt, AD, PhilaMark and Ed...
Ed, I used to make maybaskets as a kid growing up.... I had completely forgotten about that until just now..
You have inspired me. I am going to make a May basket the first day of MAY, for my family.
Wish my old grandma lived closer, I'd take her one too. (6 hours away by car). It seems impersonal to send 1-800-Maybasket to her. Well, maybe we'll do some paper flowers on a card and send it that way..
Thanks for the reminder, Ed. It's those kind of things that fill up your life with gusto! That and creme caramel, that is.
