Just curious? What are everyone's favorite pizza toppings? I have to admit, we eat pizza a lot in my house. I like pineapple, spinach, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, and tomatoes...yes, all on one pizza! Any other suggestions?

For me, a pizza without onions is like a day without sunshine. I love onions, spinach, broccoli, fresh tomatoes, sliced banana peppers, and fresh garlic.

I'm sure there are loads of more great ideas out there, but you might find these threads helpful... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Forum1/HTML/003164.html http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Archives/Archive-000001/HTML/20010228-1-000704.html

As for me, I love the lox, mascarpone and caper pizza that was featured in an issue of CL; arugula or spinach, onions, creminis, and gorgonzola or other blue cheese; eggplant, roasted red peppers, Greek olives and feta; wild mushrooms with Gruyere...mmm...I think pizza may be on the menu next week! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

For me...eggplant..SO loves his BLT pizza...lettuce, tomato, bacon and yes, MAYO. Actually, it's really good. Way fattening.

Definitely check the thread above that emilycat suggested -- there's some great suggestions there!

BUT, since I'm sitting at my desk this morning, stomach growling... I'll talk about pizza...

I love veggie pizzas -- and will eat almost any combination of vegetables at any given time. I love playing with a variety of cheeses, sauces and seasonings.

My current favorite pizza is made with pesto, garlic, spinach, kalamata olives, a sprinkling of feta, mozzarella and thinly sliced tomatoes.

If I'm in the mood for meat, I always make pizza "cajun style" -- celery, onions, okra (or another veggie), cajun-seasoned tomatoes, andouille sausage and cajun spiced shrimp!

Mmm... I usually put the toppings for this pizza on a butter crust and serve it with a good dark beer! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Mushrooms!!!!! We had pizza for dinner last night with mushrooms, onions, and sun-dried tomatoes. I almost always make vegetarian pizzas. We're not vegetarians, I just never seem to want meat on my pizza. Who needs it with all that yummy cheese?!

Sliced banana peppers definitely!!

I usually make pizza with fresh garlic, fresh basil, tomato slices, sundried tomatoes, red pepper, banana peppers, maybe some other spicy pepper. Then arugula if it's in season. Cheese of course - fresh mozarella is great!

Black olives!!! Red onions. And, sometimes, Italian sausage.

I've been making my own pizza for some time now, waaayyyy better than delivery, IMHO! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif
my favourite is olive oil, spinach & lots of cheese, also with fresh sliced tomatos, basil & eggplant when in season. I also make pizza w/spicy italian sausage crumbled w/extra cheese & homemade sauce. YUMMMY-I'm going to make dough right now!
Thanks for deciding dinner tonight....

On homemade pizza I like olive oil, broccoli, mozz cheese and ALOT of minced garlic.

Sliced banana peppers, thanks for the idea!
There's a nice Italian restaurant here that has a pepper pizza with banana peppers as the main ingredient. I never thought to put it on my pizza at home.

I love onions, olives, mushrooms, Italian sausage (thank goodness for the Atsa Spicy Pizza Sausage recipe!), lots of red pepper flakes and a few shakes of Penzey's pizza seasoning.

I made two really good homemade pizzas this year: the Chicago Style Pizza (with the Atsa Spicy sausage), mozzerella, parmesan, canned diced tomatoes and no sauce from CL, and a mushroom and smoked cheese pizza with scallions and sage from Moosewood.

California Pizza Kitchen makes frozen pizzas that you can buy in the grocery store and my favorite is the BBQ chicken with Barbeque sauce instead of marinara- delish! It also has red onions and cilantro on it. Wow.

LaraW -- any tips for baking pizza on the grill??

I remember CL did a piece on it a year or so ago, but I've never tried it. Afraid I'll have black bottom crust and raw toppings.

I LOVE anchovies, but nobody else ever does!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif

Other than that, hot peppers are great with ham and pineapple.

Actually, I'm easy to please - I will eat anything on pizza, as long as the crust is good. The crust and sauce is what ruins a pizza for me, not the toppings.

Our current favorite is from one of the Oxmoor House cookbooks, I think it's called Low Fat One Dish Meals (or something similar). We use our own pizza crust recipe, then their base is made from a mixture of LF ricotta, garlic, italian seasoning, and chopped marinated artichoke hearts. Spread over pizza and top with sliced tomatoes, a bit of mozzarella, sauteed green bell peppers, and cooked crumbled turkey bacon.

After reading all of the above suggestions, and looking at the older threads, I'm going to have to try some new favorites!

I second the request for tips on grilling pizza.

As for my faves, I love olives and feta. I also like a good pesto pizza with just cheese. Or fresh basil, fresh mozerella and tomato. And nothing beats a good cheese pizza with onion. I am anti-meat on pizza (though pro-meat on darn near everything else).

We love to put lots of veggies-red peppers, onions, olives, mushrooms, tomatoes, and anything else we have laying around and top it with lots of garlic. Dh has low-fat pepperoni on his side.

Pizza sauce, canadian bacon, artichoke hearts, chopped fresh basil & mozzerella cheese. Mmmmmmm.......

We like this three-alarm gut burner:

-strained salsa for the sauce (if it's not strained, it'll make the crust soggy!)
-spicy sausage
-sliced fresh green & red peppers
-sliced onions (I like red onions best)
-diced green chili peppers (canned) or jalapenos if you're brave
-pepper jack cheese
-top with fresh sliced tomatoes after baking

Mmmmmm. But not good if you're likely to have heartburn!

Nothing but veggies! (except my nemesis, the mushroom ) Pile on however many will fit- broccoli, peppers (sweet & hot), lots of onions, tomatoes, eggplant, etc. Add garlic, mozzarella, ricotta & basil and I'm all set!

pesto sauce, chicken, mushrooms, green onions, roma tomatoes, Mozzarella, and Parmesan

Now I'm hungry for pizza, and it's bedtime! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

We like cracked pepper turkey from the deli, with onions, red and yellow bell peppers, and black olives. Pizza is definitely a good way to get the kids to eat veggies in our house.

Mmmmm! One of our favs right now is chicken, roasted red peppers and moz. cheese with olive oil on the crust instead of tomato sauce. Another fav is grilled chicken, fresh romas, green onions with moz cheese and we use garlic alfredo sauce instead of tomato sauce on the crust.

I am so boring...I don't make many homemade pizzas, but I'm going to have to start soon. I am SO traditional, but I'm a Saturated-Fat loving traditional. Round Table Pizza makes one called 'Montague's All Meat Marvel'. That used to be my favorite back when I ate pizza out. Every meat in the house: pepperoni, salami, chorizo, sausage, canadian bacon, seasoned ground beef...you could tilt the pizza and watch the orange grease run down the top. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif I LOVE meat pizzas with gobs and gobs of mozzarella and provolone cheese. All I have to add is crushed red pepper and pineapple.

That's my dream pizza that I don't allow myself to have. In reality, I use turkey pepperoni, canadian bacon and pineapple, and I make my DH's half (easier for us) with turkey pepperoni and fresh mushrooms. We use very low fat mozzarella, and to help it melt I spray the entire top of the pizza with a light mist of cooking spray.

One of the reasons I bought the Electric Meat Grinder is so I could make my own sausage and hopefully get my dream pizza back! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Our faves are:

crushed pineapple and ham with balsamic roasted red peppers

basil, extra garlic with veggie crumbles

feta, spinach, and sundried tomatoes

bbq chicken with onions and peppers

roasted duck with brie and porcini mushrooms (we stole this idea from Emeril and it's out of this world)
