Can anyone tell my where you get your passport pictures taken or is it possible to bring in a photo and have it cropped to the right size? I've seen where walgreens takes your photo for like 7.99, is this pretty average??
any help is appreciated, thanks

Most photo shops do passport pictures. Our local auto club (AAA) does them too. I don't think you can take a picture and have it cropped. The photo has to be very specific in size and how your face or eyes are positioned.

Our local photo lab does it and so does the UPS packaging store...

Kinko's does them as well.

I'll echo Tulips' comments - you cannot crop a picture. There are other rules, too... no teeth showing or smiling, I think. And Canadian and U.S. passport pictures are slightly different....

Costco also does them, as well as small local photo shops (i.e., MotoPhoto).

I just got mine renewed with new picture at the Post Office. Most of them can take care of all that fun stuff.

I had mine done at the Post Office. You need to call and make an appointment first. Or at least you do at my P.O.

Walgreen's, I think...additional rules...no glasses and I had to have my hair behind my ears...I guess in case you have particularly distinctive ears.

Just had ours redone. DH had his glasses on and has in every passport he's ever had. We both have stupid grins on our faces  . Of course we are renewing by mail and with our luck they could be rejected...

If you want to do the photos yourself, a friend of mine did that for himself and his family with a digital camera (if you have any photoshop-type software you can easily adjust size of photo) and they came out much better than the ones done by AAA and Walgreens, etc. There are some guidelines (and, by the way, if you normally wear glasses then you must wear them in the photo but there can't be any glare on the lenses because your eyes must be visable) - here are a few links from the US Dept. of State:
http://travel.state.gov/passport/guide/composition/composition_874.html
http://travel.state.gov/passport/guide/quality/quality_879.html
If you decide to have them done, the going rate is about $8.00 for the duplicate set.

We did my photo using our digital camera and didn't have any problems at all...just go by the rules posted on the govt. website and you will be fine.

We had ours done at Costco. It was cheap and quick, and they give you two copies.

Last time I got my passport renewed I think I got pictures taken 3 times before I found one I liked enough to use. :o
I think it just did them at Kinko's and I don't remember any specific rules or how much it was.

So glad someone asked this as my passport has expired and I have "take pics" on my to do list. Now I know that I can have my parents take them with my digital camera when they are here for a visit.
