Am I the first to get the May issue? Cover has Chocolate Mousse made with tofu. Contains articles/recipes for Caribbean cooking, strawberry pie and orange tea cake. MMMMM good! We'll be getting lots of reviews on these recipes.

In all honesty, I'm not ready for the May issue so it can take it's time getting here. I'm still working my way through the April and March issues... Too many good recipes to try! Although the Chocolate Mousse with tofu sounds very interesting...

This is funny as I got my May Bon Appetit yesterday (which I usually get on a consistent basis)and wondered when someone would mention the May CL. It is always interesting to see how soon or late we all get ours.

I have hardly been through April either - between that and buying more cookbooks this month, I'm not in that big of a hurry. Carribean, huh? mmmmm!

Vanessa
04-13-2001, 05:25 PM
Caribbean recipes? Oh good! I enjoyed reading GUsto so I will look fwd to May's CL although I am sure it will be a while as i got April's last week.

ACK!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've hardly had time to try out April's recipes!! I don't usually get home until 8:30pm. How am I supposed to cook everything I want to?

OK - breath................

OK, I am keeping track, Pittsburgh is first. If you could, please post your city/state so that we can see where they are being sent.

There has got to be some pattern to their MAIL madness http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif

I hope to compare this to the April thread!
Thanks!

Maybe, I'll be next - wish,wish!

Got it today in Rochester, NY. I was surprised as I just seemed to have gotten April. I'm too busy getting ready for Easter to really read it, but this caught my eye for my Easter ham leftovers: a ham and asparagus casserole that has egg noodles and (gulp) whole milk in the sauce. A whole feature on asparagus, in fact! Yum!
I feel privileged! I'm never one of the early ones!

Another arrival in Lancaster, PA. I have yet to make anything from April, but still am happy to have received it earlier this month. There is hope out there for others who received their April late.

No May issue yet here in Philly...still haven't finished April's! Wendy, I got my May Bon Apetit last week...isn't it a great issue? All on Paris!!!!! Sounds like this and the new CL issue will make May a fun month! Does anyone else get Bon Apetit? I love that magazine too!

Wendy w
04-17-2001, 10:12 AM
Philamark, I haven't had the time to sit down with it yet. I will have to make some time for it as I have been busy-spring cleaning, etc.

Thanks for reminding me. That is why I'm not in a big hurry for the May issue of CL as usual.

I got mine in PA today, too. (But I probably won't get a chance to even look through it until next week!) The cover's very pretty, though!

SusanMac

This has got to be the first CL cover featuring tofu. Is that right? Not a tofu lover, but it's interesting to see CL expanding their repertoir (sp?)

I saw May in the grocery store today. The cover is in lovely rich shades of purple. is it just me or are the covers more "artistic" and less "table setting" than usual recently? I didn't peek inside. I'm still willing to hold out for my copy -- FOR NOW!

Philamark, I get Bon Appetit and was really disappointed in the issue on Paris! It's funny how everyone has a different reactions to things. I saw about two recipes that I'd use. And since a trip to Paris isn't in the offing, I just don't need that much info on the city. An article, yes. A whole issue, NO! I'll stick with Cooking Light this month...

Lynn B
04-17-2001, 11:36 PM
My DD and I both subscribe, so we get 2 issues w/ the same last name and at the same address each month. Well, she got HERS about a week ago, and I still haven't gotten mine! GO FIGURE!!!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
BTW, we are in PA, too!

Schuh; I haven't read too much of the Paris issue of Bon Apetit, but I've enjoyed what I read. I have always been interested in the French culture and cuisine and was in Paris many years ago so I was glad that Bon Apetit dedicated an issue to the city. I'm not sure if there will be many recipes to make, but sometimes these special issues that they do are really interesting. I hope you like it!

Got mine in NH yesterday. I had just given up on April ever coming and had picked it up at the grocery store the day before. So now I have two whole issues to work on at the same time! Plus, Bon Appetit which I agree doesn't look too appealing this month.

Strawberries, ginger, chicken thighs, spring greens, bread, asparagus, bell peppers, barbecue roasted salmon, and flank steak recipes to name a few!

Good to see it arrived to someone in NH and Boston too. I'm in Southern NH and have my fingers crossed! I think the PO has a lot of leeway on when they deliver magazines so some of this is determined very locally - perhaps they wait till a mail day seems lighter than usual and then add some magazines in for delivery?

I can pretty much guarantee that I'll be reading my mom's in Washington State before I'll see my copy. Hopefully jetting off to Seattle area sometime this weekend (depending on military transport planes can be annoying, but can't complain since its free) for two weeks. Hopefully my copy will be in the mail before I get home.

Yay, mine arrived in Columbus, OH, today -- and it looks like a winner! After my first quick run-through, there are so many page corners turned down that the magazine looks as if it's having a bad hair day. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Lots of good stuff for vegetarians this month.
