Hey folks,

I've been looking for a while for a stovetop grill like Rachel Ray uses on her show. Does anyone know where I can get one (in Canada, preferably). I've looked at several specialty shops in Ottawa and haven't found one - although I did find a cast iron flat grill that sits on two burners, which I think is getting close- just not sure how to care for cast iron.

We are moving into our first house in September and will likely get a bbq -but is that what recipes mean when they call for grilling? Will that give the lovely grill marks? Anyhow, September is too far away and I want to make yummy grilled dishes like the mango basmati with grilled shrimp dish on the cover of this month's CL.

Any suggestions?

Hi DonnaM,
She uses either a cast iron or aluminum grill pan. I would not buy a pan that means you are cooking on aluminum. There are questions in the newspapers about the safety of cooking directly on that surface. If I were you, I would get an All-Clad double burner or single burner grill pan. It works great and heats up evenly and quickly. Most better department stores or cooking stores have them. They range from $69 -100 US dollars. They do give your food the grill marks just like on a gas grill that you would use outside. Plus, the clean up is super quick since it is a non stick surface.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Julie1993

i went with a cast iron grilling pan - it works great and I've already used it twice!
