I bought a large amount of fresh salmon. I want to freeze 1/2 of it. What is the best way to do this with my food saver? And what is the best way to thaw it out?
Many thanks!

Denise,
I find it's better to freeze the salmon on a baking sheet first and then use the Foodsaver. You can cut to serving size pieces first. I then thaw in the fridge in the morning.

I usually freeze meats and fish before using the foodsaver. Otherwise, the liquid from the meat/fish gets sucked out of the bag during the vacuum process. I know you can use a folded paper towel inside the bag to absorb liquid, but it looks gross. I don't know if I should or not, but I usually wrap individual pieces of salmon in plastic wrap before I freeze, then just put the wrapped packet into the foodsaver bag and seal it.
