what is the deal with becoming a "member"?

Hi everyone!

I am just wondering why they would track how many times you have posted? I personally can't wait to get my 50 posts in so I can feel like I have graduated from Junior High into High School. I feel like I have responded a ton of times but I'm not even close yet.

Any input would be appreciated. TIA.

My personal opinion is that the "jr" grates enough that we post like crazy to get rid of it. That generates postings and gets us hooked! Not that I mind a whole lot--I just also spent some time wondering why.
