After 3 days of not participating on these threads, I'm back. I've done a very limited amount of exercise during these days but not enough to feel like I could post.

I went to yoga class this morning. I'm glad I went, but are any of you ever really disappointed in your classes? Can I whine for a few minutes?

First, I had a house issue last night that kept me away all night imagining how much something was going to cost to fix it. That problem turned out to be a quick, no-cost fix (thanks to having a wonderful dad), but I had a fretful night of sleep.

I got to the class early so I could get my favorite spot...very dark, cooler than many parts of the room, good view of the instructor, and the speakers are just perfect right there. I always arrive early so I can get that specific spot. If I'm late getting to class, that's my tough luck if I don't get it.

At the time class is supposed to begin, the instructor still isn't there. About 2 or 3 minutes later, in walked the instructor followed by several other people coming in late. The instructor put down her mat and one of the late-arrivers put down her mat directly between my mat and the instructor. The mats were in a straight line and almost touching. I tried to say something to the girl who had her mat in a not-so-good position but she didn't hear me. Instead of causing a scene, I figured I'd just move. I ended up in a spot I really don't like...right next to the outside wall with all the bright lights from the rest of the gym.

Meanwhile, the instructor is over talking to someone who was new to the class. Yes, the new person needed a little guidance so she'd know what to do during the class...PLUS she had just had hip-replacement surgery!!

The class started 6 or 7 minutes late. It also ended about 6 or 7 minutes early (I was in my car and out of the parking lot at least 5 minutes before the class should have ended so I know she ended quite early).

My whining moments: The instructor should have been early or at least on time to set up, speak to anyone who's new, and get things ready to go. This is yoga. It's not step aerobics. Calm mind. Concentrated breathing. NOT frustration. <sigh>

I hate people to walk into yoga class late. It's disruptive. People are usually walking in as we're in Mountain Pose or doing Sun Salutations. It's hard to "get into the moment". Then to set up a mat within inches of a mat that's already in place is the height of yoga etiquette. You have to be able to move, to bend, to stretch. I don't want to stretch and end up touching someone next to me. ESPECIALLY when I'm there early and am set up in a place that doesn't interfere with anyone.

Ok....I'm through whining for the day. This is officially off my chest. Forget the deep breathing today...I'm going to cut the grass.

Thanks for allowing me to vent. :D And if these types of things don't bother you, can someone explain how to not let them get to me like they do??

So....did anyone else exercise today?

Hi, Melanie! Glad you got your workout in. Sorry to hear it was not as relaxing and refreshing as yoga is supposed to be. :(

I don't know what some people are thinking when they do things like setting up her mat so close to yours. I went to a movie by myself once, and it was kind of a sleeper movie, so no one was even in the theater when I got there. A couple came in a few minutes before it started, and they stood in the back whispering for what seemed like a long time. Then they proceeded to walk down the aisle and seat themselves RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! Not just the row ahead of me, but the actual two seats directly in front of me. I still can't get over that one. It is impossible to fathom what was in their heads, but apparently it was a joint decision. Oh, well!

I did another 45 minutes on the stepper (no weights today) and some ab exercises.

Have a great day!

Anyone else?

Sorry about the aerobic-yoga today. That would frost me too.

I did my normal 12-mile run today at the park. Boy I'm glad we started at 7 am beacuse it was still hot and humid and only getting worse (living in Norfolk VA). I may do a little riding this afternoon just to keep those muscles in shape after my tri last week.

Peace,
Les

Got in 25 minutes on the bike at the gym, followed by some lower body and ab work.

Step class and Body Sculpt class this morning. Then came home and dug up a couple of big bushes so I can redo one of my gardens in the back yard. I am headed up for a much-needed shower:D

Melman - sorry about the personal space invasion - I hate when that happens:(

Hi all. Melanie, wish you could have been at my "gym" today. On the weekends I use the fitness room in a hospital close by. I work at the hospital VERY part time (one hour a week!) and the fitness room is for employees. There is no staff there..you just swipe your badge to get in. And there is NEVER anyone there. I ran on the treadmill today..6 miles. Not a single person came in. It's so private that I've been known to be singing along out loud with the music on my MP3! :o :)
