After 3 days of not participating on these threads, I'm back. I've done a very limited amount of exercise during these days but not enough to feel like I could post.
I went to yoga class this morning. I'm glad I went, but are any of you ever really disappointed in your classes? Can I whine for a few minutes?
First, I had a house issue last night that kept me away all night imagining how much something was going to cost to fix it. That problem turned out to be a quick, no-cost fix (thanks to having a wonderful dad), but I had a fretful night of sleep.
I got to the class early so I could get my favorite spot...very dark, cooler than many parts of the room, good view of the instructor, and the speakers are just perfect right there. I always arrive early so I can get that specific spot. If I'm late getting to class, that's my tough luck if I don't get it.
At the time class is supposed to begin, the instructor still isn't there. About 2 or 3 minutes later, in walked the instructor followed by several other people coming in late. The instructor put down her mat and one of the late-arrivers put down her mat directly between my mat and the instructor. The mats were in a straight line and almost touching. I tried to say something to the girl who had her mat in a not-so-good position but she didn't hear me. Instead of causing a scene, I figured I'd just move. I ended up in a spot I really don't like...right next to the outside wall with all the bright lights from the rest of the gym.
Meanwhile, the instructor is over talking to someone who was new to the class. Yes, the new person needed a little guidance so she'd know what to do during the class...PLUS she had just had hip-replacement surgery!!
The class started 6 or 7 minutes late. It also ended about 6 or 7 minutes early (I was in my car and out of the parking lot at least 5 minutes before the class should have ended so I know she ended quite early).
My whining moments: The instructor should have been early or at least on time to set up, speak to anyone who's new, and get things ready to go. This is yoga. It's not step aerobics. Calm mind. Concentrated breathing. NOT frustration. <sigh>
I hate people to walk into yoga class late. It's disruptive. People are usually walking in as we're in Mountain Pose or doing Sun Salutations. It's hard to "get into the moment". Then to set up a mat within inches of a mat that's already in place is the height of yoga etiquette. You have to be able to move, to bend, to stretch. I don't want to stretch and end up touching someone next to me. ESPECIALLY when I'm there early and am set up in a place that doesn't interfere with anyone.
Ok....I'm through whining for the day. This is officially off my chest. Forget the deep breathing today...I'm going to cut the grass.
Thanks for allowing me to vent. :D And if these types of things don't bother you, can someone explain how to not let them get to me like they do??
So....did anyone else exercise today?
