It's Friday -- and time again for another poll! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
With the weather changing so often here, I've been thinking about the way my food preferences adjust to the weather. On rainy days, I want to eat differently! I crave different foods. SO, I thought I'd ask you what foods you associate with the following weather words:
WIND : Veggie wraps
RAIN : Hearty Tuna soup
BREEZE : Picnic in the park
SUNSHINE : Citrus grilled chicken and roasted veggies
HUMIDITY : Icecream
SNOW : Stew; slow-roasted comfort foods
I'll be back with my answers in a bit... feel free to add more words if something comes to mind.

Hmmmmm...
Snow and sunshine were easiest, so I'll put them first.
Snow... hot, filling foods like chili, thick soups, lasagne, vegetable pot pie, oven-roasted vegetables, homemade pizza, or cheese fondue.
Sunshine... I think of eating on the porch... light, tasty meals that don't require the oven. Fresh fruit (esp. strawberries and cantaloupe), chips and salsa, sandwiches, pasta salad, grilled vegetables.
Humidity... I don't even want to move when it's humid, unless it's to dive into a swimming pool. I tend not to eat real meals, either... I eat popsicles, fruit smoothies, ice cream, sliced cucumbers or avocados with tomatoes and cream cheese on french bread, or a bowl of cereal.
Rain... this brought the most specific associations for me. My mom's remedy for a rainy day... tomato soup, grilled cheese, and later a big bowl of popcorn.
Wind/breeze... I drew a blank on wind, but for some reason breeze made me think of ginger and chilies... foods that are warming even if they're not served hot.

This has long been an almost unstoppable craving for me when I see changes in the weather. I simply want to cook! If it starts raining or snowing when I'm out of the house, that's the first thing I want to do is go home and turn on the oven... Here's what I want to cook:
Snow: Homemade Cinnamon Rolls
Cold Rain: Cheesy Chicken Chowder and homemade biscuits
First Warm Spring Day: Pasta with Asian flair
Summer: Marinated Flank Steak on the grill with loaded baked potatoes
Thunderstorms: My handsome husband in front of the fire with a bottle of wine...now that's cooking! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

Snow: it doesn't snow here in Houston, but for cold weather it would be chili, soups and stews.
Hot: Pasta salads, grilled chicken sandwiches with boiled corn.
Humid: Can't say for sure because it is almost always humid here, so I guess anything goes.
Rain: Good ole comfort food.

Great topic!
Rain: Definitely soup, a great minestrone is my favorite
Sunshine: Fruit, fruit and more fruit! Also corn on the cob
Humidity: I'm not a big ice cream fan, I second Susanmac and the margaritas
Snow: Chili in a bread bowl, one of my favorite things in winter

This is kinda fun.
Let's see..
Sunshine- a big porterhouse steak and veggies on the grill- or burgers. And a big cool salad.
Rain- creamy soups and bread or grilled cheese. DH always wants seafood (usually steamers) when it's rainy out.
Cold or snow - stews or creamy soups again.
Heat and humidity- I want a big cold fruit salad or green salad and frozen fruit bars!
I think wine goes with any kind of weather! Beer only goes with a hot summer day. And it better be a freezing cold beer!
Okay. I'll play. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
Wind and Rain: (Assuming it's a cold wind, the cravings and the foods would be the same) Chili. Or French Onion Soup laden with cheese and bread-- warm and bubbly and browned on top. Or if it's a weekend and we can kick back, it'd be wine, cheese, a fresh-baked Italian twist and some meats in front of a raging fire-- preferably in the fireplace. Low lights, send the kid to bed early, oh and I suppose having hubby in the picture would probably help...
Breeze: (What kind? Summer breeze? ...makes me feel fine... sorry, I'm from the sixties) Something light probably, seafood salad, calamari pesto pasta... white wine. Hollywood Bowl picnic fare or something eaten atop an ocean-view bluff.
Sunshine: Nothing in particular-- hot dogs at the beach, maybe. This isn't specific enough to get a fix on any cravings. You say sunshine, another bad song from the sixties comes to mind: Sunshine, Lollypops and Rainbows. Well you said it was word association...
Humidity: Seafood, hands down.
Snow: Spinach crepes. Too weird. Don't even ask.
Really, it's easier just to say that summer and hot weather are my seafood months; winter and cooler weather is where the soups, stews, roasts and heavy stuff somes in. Period.

Here's one I crave in spring/summer that no one has mentioned yet: gazpacho soup. Yumm! It's soup, but cold and crispy. Of course, margaritas to go with it.
Also...pretty much any Sunday afternoon when the weather is good....cheese, crackers, bottle of wine, a good book and relaxing music :-) (it's not just food...it's the whole experience)
What a great topic - thanks lorilei. this is a little late because i've been out of town for a week. Still can't resist adding my 2 cents though.
WIND : corn or clam chowder
RAIN : stew or Mexican (lots of spice helps us survive the grey days that happen about half the year)
BREEZE : some new ethnic recipe
SUNSHINE : Kabobs and dogs on the beach
HUMIDITY : hot buttered rum - i think we are talking different temps for the humidity here so those of you in warmer climates can substitute mint juleps or ????
SNOW : Stew; slow-roasted comfort foods
